Rumney Rugby Football Club is a Welsh rugby union based in Rumney, Wales. Rumney RFC presently compete in the Welsh Rugby Union Division One East league. Rumney, Cardiff
Rumney ( cy, Tredelerch) is a district and community in the east of the city of Cardiff, Wales. It lies east of the Rhymney River, and is historically part of Monmouthshire. On 1 April 1938 the Cardiff Extension Act 1937 incorporated it into the county borough of Cardiff, although it remained part of Monmouthshire, and England until the Local Government Act 1972 made Monmouthshire a part of Wales. Description This is a predominantly residential area with a variety of social and private housing. Steve Ford
Stephen Paul Ford (born 15 August 1965 in Cardiff) was a Welsh international rugby union winger. After being banned from rugby union for an act of professionalism, he was eventually allowed back into the sport and went on to represent the Wales national team. He played club rugby for Cardiff. Rugby career Club career Steve Ford played rugby as a schoolboy representing Llanrumney High School before joining Rumney RFC. In April 1985, Ford made his debut for Cardiff. Later that year, he had a trial with rugby league club Leeds. He made two appearances for the club as an amateur, scoring a try in a 60–12 win against Keighley in the Yorkshire Cup. He was offered a contract by Leeds, but Ford decided to return to Wales and resume playing for Cardiff. However, the Welsh Rugby Union soon learned of Ford's appearances for Leeds, and banned him from playing rugby union due to the sport's stance on professionalism. Jamie Roberts
Jamie Huw Roberts (born 8 November 1986) is a former Welsh rugby union player, who most recently played for the Waratahs. His usual position is centre. Beginning in 2005, Roberts has played for Cardiff RFC, Cardiff Blues, Racing Métro, Cambridge University, Harlequins, Bath and the Stormers, and joined the Dragons in 2020. He won 94 caps for Wales between 2008 and 2017, and three for the British & Irish Lions on their tours to South Africa in 2009 and Australia in 2013. South Wales Ironmen
The South Wales Scorpions, known as the South Wales Ironmen in 2017, were a semi-professional rugby league club based in South Wales. They played in the third tier of the British rugby league system (currently known as League 1) between 2010 and 2017. The team initially played at The Gnoll in Neath, before spells at Caerphilly, Mountain Ash, Maesteg, and Merthyr Tydfil. Lewis Mills (born 30 May 1989) is a Wales international rugby league footballer who played for the Crusaders in the Super League. He signed for the Crusaders, then Celtic Crusaders in 2008, after coming through the youth ranks at the Newport Titans. Mills' position of preference is . Crusaders Rugby League
Crusaders Rugby League ( cy, Croesgadwyr Rygbi'r Gynghrair) was a professional rugby league club based in Bridgend and later in Wrexham, Wales. They played for six seasons in the Rugby Football League competitions, including three years in the Super League from 2009 to 2011. Founded as Celtic Crusaders in 2005 initially based in Bridgend, the club played in National League Two from 2006 to 2007 and in National League One in 2008. In 2009 they were awarded a Super League licence, and in 2010 they moved from Bridgend to Wrexham in North Wales, and dropped "Celtic" from their name. WRU Division One East
The Welsh Rugby Union Specsavers Division One East is a rugby union league in Wales. It was 'born' out of a restructure of the former league system that had formally begun in Wales for the 1990/91 season. As a result of the restructure of 2006, the WRU decided to divide the then Division One into two leagues, East and West, and Division 1 East was implemented and became a regular part of the fixture list. In 2014, another restructure of Welsh Rugby's league system saw more changes within the Division One tier. The Welsh Rugby Union League 2 East (also called the SWALEC League 2 East for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby union league in Wales. Competition format and sponsorship Competition There are 12 clubs in the WRU League 2 East. During the course of a season (which lasts from September to May) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents for a total of 22 games for each club, with a total of 132 games in each season. Teams receive four points for a win and two point for a draw, an additional bonus point is awarded to either team if they score four tries or more in a single match.
