Ruhubelent District
Ruhubelent District ( tk, Ruhubelent etraby, Рухубелент этрабы) is a district of Daşoguz Province, Turkmenistan. The administrative center of the district is the town of Ruhubelent. The district was established April 2007 and the town of Ruhubelent was founded on 17 October 2008. The "virgin district" was formed on 400 thousand hectares of the Shasenem Prairie (russian: массив Шасенем) specifically for cultivation of wheat, cotton, and pasturage. Şabat Open Joint Stock Company operates a dairy farm in Ruhubelent District. Transportation The district is served by the Trans-Karakum Railway that connects Ashgabat and Daşoguz as well as the Ashgabat-Dashoguz Automobile Highway. Districts Of Turkmenistan
The districts of Turkmenistan ( tk, etraplar, sing. ''etrap'') are territorial entities below the provinces of Turkmenistan ( tk, welaýatlar, sing. '' welaýat''). They may be counties, cities, or boroughs of cities. The heads of the districts ( tk, häkim, translated as "governor" for districts of a ''welaýat'' and "mayor" for cities or boroughs of a city) are appointed by the President of Turkmenistan (Constitution of Turkmenistan, Articles 80-81). Regarding cities "with district status" ( tk, etrap hukukly), by Turkmen law, "...such cities must have population over 30,000 and be the administrative center of a province (welaýat); headed by a presidentially appointed häkim." Though this officially limits the possible number of such cities to five (the number of provinces), in reality other cities are periodically accorded the status of a district. Turkmenistan is divided into five regions or ''welaýatlar'' (singular '' welaýat'') and one capital city (''şäher'') with provincial legal status. They are Ahal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary, plus the capital city of Ashgabat. Each province is divided into districts. Daşoguz (also Dashoguz, Dasoguz; roughly "stone spring" in Turkmen), formerly known as Tashauz (until 1992; russian: Ташау́з) and Dashkhovuz (1992–1999; russian: Дашхову́з), is a city in northern Turkmenistan and the capital of Daşoguz Province. The Uzbekistan border is about 10 km away. Geography It is located at latitude 41.833° north, longitude 59.9667° east, at an average of 88 meters above sea level. Ashgabat
Ashgabat or Asgabat ( tk, Aşgabat, ; fa, عشقآباد, translit='Ešqābād, formerly named Poltoratsk ( rus, Полтора́цк, p=pəltɐˈratsk) between 1919 and 1927), is the capital and the largest city of Turkmenistan. It lies between the Karakum Desert and the Kopetdag mountain range in Central Asia, near the Iran-Turkmenistan border. The city was founded in 1881 on the basis of an Ahal Teke tribal village, and made the capital of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic in 1924.
