Rugby League Dual Registration
Dual registration refers to an arrangement between clubs whereby a player continues to be registered to his current club and is also registered to play for a club in a lower league. The system is mostly aimed at young Super League players who are thought to be not quite ready to make the step up to ‘week in, week out’ first team duties but for whom first team match experience is likely to be beneficial for their development but this has been extended to RFL Championship, Championship teams dual registering with League 1 (rugby league), League 1 clubs. Super League
The Super League (officially known as the Betfred Super League due to sponsorship from Betfred and legally known as Super League Europe), is the top-level of the British rugby league system. At present the league consists of twelve teams, of which eleven are from Northern England, reflecting the sport's geographic heartland within the UK, and one from southern France. The Super League began in 1996, replacing the existing Rugby Football League Championship First Division, First Division and, significantly, switching from a traditional winter season to a summer season. Each team plays 27 games between February and September: 11 home games, 11 away games, Magic Weekend and an additional 4 'loop fixtures' decided by league positions. The top six then enter the Super League play-offs, play-off series leading to the Super League Grand Final, Grand Final which determines the champions. Sheffield Eagles
The Sheffield Eagles are a professional rugby league club that play in the Championship (rugby league), Betfred Championship. The club play their home games at the Olympic Legacy Park (OLP) on the former site of Don Valley Stadium, their former ground. The original club was formed in 1984 and formerly competed in the Super League. The new, current club was formed in 2000 following a merger of the old club with Huddersfield Giants. The old club's biggest achievement was winning the Challenge Cup in 1998. Workington Town
Workington Town R.L.F.C. is a semi-professional rugby league club playing in Workington in west Cumbria. Their stadium is Derwent Park, which they share with Workington Comets, a speedway team. They became Rugby League Champions in 1951 and also won the Challenge Cup in 1952. Their nickname is simply 'Town', though they are sometimes referred to as 'Worky' by fans of other teams. The Leigh Leopards are a professional rugby league club based in Leigh, Greater Manchester, England, who compete in the Betfred Super League. The club was founded in 1878, and is one of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. Leigh have been Rugby League Champions twice, in 1906 and 1982, and have won the Challenge Cup twice, in 1921 and 1971. The Keighley Cougars are a professional rugby league club from Keighley in West Yorkshire, England who compete in League 1, the third tier of English rugby league. Keighley's home ground, Cougar Park has a capacity of 7,800. History Early years The club was formed at a meeting held on 17 October 1876 under the presidency of the Reverend Marriner. A committee was elected and the club was allowed the use of Holmes' field in Lawkholme Lane. Batley is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England. The Swinton Lions are a professional rugby league club based in Swinton, Greater Manchester, England, which competes in the Championship. The club has won the Championship six times and three Challenge Cups. Before 1996, the club was known simply as Swinton. The London Skolars are a professional rugby league club based at the New River Stadium, Wood Green, Haringey in north London. They were founded in 1995 and have been professional since 2003, operating in the Betfred League 1. They also run an A-team (formerly known as ''Haringey Hornets'') that play in the South Premier Division of the Rugby League Conference. Wakefield Trinity is a professional rugby league club in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England, that plays in the Super League. One of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895, between 1999 and 2016 the club was known as Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
