Rugby Sevens At The 2018 Commonwealth Games – Men's Tournament
The men's rugby sevens tournament at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was the sixth time in history that the event has taken place since it started in 1998. The venue for the competition was Robina Stadium. For the first time since 2002 the men's tournament saw some minor alterations to the format. The competition retained its 16 team first round pool stage format however the quarter-final stage was removed so only the teams who finished as pool winners went through to contest for the medals with teams who come runners-up in their pools going through the newly formed lower classification stage and all remaining teams who finished third and fourth respectively were eliminated. Qualification Malaysia and Sri Lanka both qualified for the tournament via the 2017 Asia Rugby Sevens Series on 15 October 2017, finishing seventh and fourth respectively. Robina Stadium
Robina Stadium, also known by its sponsored name Cbus Super Stadium, is a rectangular football stadium in the Gold Coast suburb of Robina, Queensland. The main usage is as the home ground to the National Rugby League's Gold Coast Titans; this venue sometimes hosts the A-League team Brisbane Roar FC. Robina Stadium is also used for Rugby Union, Soccer, Rugby Sevens, Rugby league Test Matches and has hosted Rugby league World Cup matches. Construction of the venue started in 2006, and finished in February 2008, in time for the 2008 National Rugby League season, when it became the new home of the Titans. Damon Murphy
Damon Murphy (born 15 December 1984) is an Australian professional rugby union referee and a former national captain for Australia in rugby sevens. His usual position was on the wing. Family and early life Damon Murphy was born in Brisbane and educated at Nudgee College. His younger brother Dallan Murphy also became a professional rugby union player.
