Ruff Ryders Entertainment
Ruff Ryders Entertainment is an American hip hop record label and management company founded by siblings and record executives Joaquin "Waah", Darin "Dee" and Chivon Dean. It operated as a subsidiary of Universal, and distributed by Fontana Distribution. The label went on to launch the careers of several successful artists such as Eve, Drag-On and the Deans' nephew, Swizz Beatz, among others. The Ruff Ryders namesake also referred to a loose-knit hip hop collective composed of the core signees of the label. The collective's ''de facto'' leader was the label’s flagship artist DMX. Damon J. Blackman (born August 9, 1974), better known by his stage name Dame Grease or simply Grease, is an American record producer from New York City. In 1996, he gained recognition in the hip hop industry through his production work with Bad Boy and The LOX, while also establishing the sound of DMX and Ruff Ryders. ''The Rest Is History'' is Jin's debut album. It was released on October 19, 2004. Background Originally titled ''Almost Famous'', the album was delayed for over a year. Originally slated for a Summer 2003 release it was pushed back to an October 2003 date. After plans did not materialize due to disputes with Virgin Records, the album's release date was pushed back once more to March 23, 2004. However, the release date got pushed back twice more, to August 24, 2004, until it finally arrived, with a completely new title, on October 19, 2004. During the year-long delay, Jin released the two mixtapes called ''History in the Making'' and ''Definition of History''. Hell And Back (album)
''Hell and Back'' is the second studio album by rapper Drag-On. Originally scheduled for a September 16, 2003 release, the album was ultimately released February 10, 2004. It was released through Virgin Records and Ruff Ryders and featured production from the likes of Swizz Beatz and Rockwilder. ''Hell and Back'' was not as successful as his previous album, only peaking at number 47 on the ''Billboard'' 200, however it did fare better on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, peaking at number 5. Due to the disappointing album sales Drag-On was quickly dropped from Virgin Records Critical reception AllMusic editor Andy Kellman found the album to be lackluster compared to ''Opposite of H2O'', criticizing the producers and Drag-On's label mates for crafting uninspired beats and lyrics. Jin Au-Yeung (; born June 4, 1982), known professionally as MC Jin, is an American rapper, songwriter, actor and comedian of Chinese descent.
