Rudolph Phala
Kgolane Alfred "Rudolph" Phala is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since 2004. During that time, he served as Limpopo's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Treasury from 2013 to 2015 and as Speaker of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2013. Life and career Phala trained and practiced as a lawyer. During the 1980s, he was active in the anti-apartheid student movement, and he was appointed as the ANC's political education officer in the Limpopo region after the organisation was unbanned in 1990. The Provincial Executive Committees (PEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) are the chief executive organs of the party's nine provincial branches. Comprising the so-called Top Five provincial officials and up to 30 additional elected members, each is structured similarly to the ANC's National Executive Committee and is elected every four years at party provincial conferences. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is a South African left-wing to far-left pan-Africanist and Marxist–Leninist political party. General elections were held in South Africa on 7 May 2014, to elect a new National Assembly and new provincial legislatures in each province. It was the fifth election held in South Africa under conditions of universal adult suffrage since the end of the apartheid era in 1994, and also the first held since the death of Nelson Mandela.
