Rudolph L. Hanau
Rudolph L. Hanau (1881–1930) was a mechanical engineer. He is credited with developing the Hanau Articulator. Hanau is also credited with developing the first Kinescope in the field of prosthodontics. Life Hanau was born in Victoria West, Cape Colony, South Africa, in 1881. He received mechanical engineering training in Leipzig, Germany. In 1906 he moved to New York City. He began working as a consultant with an American engineering company. Hanau started working with Dr. Frederick Lester Stanton in 1915, and they eventually developed the Stanton-Hanau surveyor. Victoria West
Victoria West is a town in the central Karoo region of South Africa's Northern Cape province. It is situated on the main N12 route, at an elevation of . It is the seat of the Ubuntu Local Municipality within the Pixley ka Seme District Municipality. History The town was laid out on the bank of the Brakrivier watercourse in 1843, when the Dutch Reformed Church bought the farm Zeekoegat from the estate of J.H. Classens. Frederick Lester Stanton
Frederick Lester Stanton (March 9, 1873 – January 1, 1945) was an American orthodontist who played a key role in forming of first specialized dental journal ''The American Orthodontist'' and formation of the Hanau Articulator with Rudolph L. Hanau. He also attended Angle School of Orthodontia and graduated from there in 1905. Life Stanton was born in Norwich, Connecticut, in 1873 to Caroline and George Stanton. He had a club foot deformity which he lived through most of his childhood. He eventually moved to Brooklyn with his family to continue his surgical treatment in the city. He attended Boys High School (Brooklyn). He developed his interest of dentistry under W. G. Stewart. He eventually attended New York College of Dentistry in 1891 and obtained his degree the year after. He then opened his office on West 34th Street in New York City.
