Rudolf Nyandoro
Rudolf Nyandoro (born 11 October 1968) is a Zimbabwean Roman Catholic prelate who served as the Bishop of Gokwe since 2017. He was appointed the new Bishop of Gweru in September 2020. A Gweru native, he previously served a parish priest, seminary rector and professor, and most recently, chancellor of the Diocese of Masvingo. Early life and education Nyandoro was born on 11 October 1968 in Gwelo, Rhodesia (today Gweru, Zimbabwe). After primary school, he attended the Minory Seminary of Chikwingwizha. From 1991 to 1994, he studied philosophy at St. Charles Lwanga Major Seminary in Chimanimani in the Diocese of Mutare. He then completed his theological studies at Chishawasha Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Harare. He holds a BS and MS in Counseling from Zimbabwe Open University. Gokwe Centre
Gokwe Centre is a rural town in the Midlands province in Zimbabwe. The town is usually referred to as "Gokwe Centre" because the larger region is called Gokwe. Background Gokwe was originally a government station. It housed a district commissioner, police, hospital, veterinary services and other government rural agencies. Primarily for the administration of the district, it was also the base for the control of the tsetse fly and its associated lethal disease trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness). Masvingo
Masvingo is a city in south-eastern Zimbabwe and the capital of Masvingo Province. The city is situated close to Great Zimbabwe, the national monument from which the country takes its name and close to Lake Mutirikwi, its recreational park, the Kyle dam and the Kyle National Reserve where there are many different animal species. It is mostly populated by the Karanga people who form the biggest branch of the various Shona tribes in Zimbabwe. History The city was known as Fort Victoria until 1982, when its name was briefly changed to Nyanda, after a mountain about 10 kilometres south of the town, on the Masvingo to Beitbridge Road. The sacrament of holy orders in the Catholic Church includes three orders: bishops, priests, and deacons, in decreasing order of rank, collectively comprising the clergy. In the phrase "holy orders", the word "holy" means "set apart for a sacred purpose".
