Rudolf Krasselt
Rudolf Krasselt (1 January 1879 – 12 April 1954) was a German violoncellist, conductor and director of the Staatsoper Hannover during the Weimar Republic and the period of National Socialism. Life Born in Baden-Baden, Krasselt grew up as son of the concertmaster of the Baden-Baden Symphony Orchestra ''Johann Gustav Krasselt''. His brother was the violin virtuoso, concert master and conductor Alfred Krasselt (1872-1908). Rudolf Krasselt played the violoncello since he was 9 years old. He was principal cellist of the Vienna Court Opera Orchestra (and the Vienna Philharmonic) under Gustav Mahler, principal cellist of the Berlin Philharmonic under Arthur Nikisch and from 1903 to 1904 principal cellist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. From 1911 to 1913 he was 1st Kapellmeister of the opera house in Kiel and in 1913 he took over the direction of the Deutsches Opernhaus in Berlin-Charlottenburg as 1st Kapellmeister. Johannes Schüler
Johannes Schüler (21 June 18943 October 1966) was a German conductor who held leading positions at opera houses such as the Berlin State Opera and the Staatsoper Hannover. He promoted contemporary music, leading the world premieres of Alban Berg's Three Pieces for Orchestra in 1930, and Henze's ''Boulevard Solitude'' in 1952. Life Schüler was born in Vietz (now Witnica, Poland), the son of an organist. He studied at the University of Berlin and the Musikhochschule Charlottenburg from 1913 to 1914, and again after the World War, in which he served in the military from 1918 to 1920. He studied conducting with Rudolf Krasselt and composition with Paul Juon. In 1920, he began his career as second Kapellmeister at the Stadttheater Gleiwitz in Upper Silesia. (; ''The Valkyrie''), WWV 86B, is the second of the four music dramas that constitute Richard Wagner's ''Der Ring des Nibelungen'' (English: ''The Ring of the Nibelung''). The works are based loosely on characters from Germanic heroic legend, namely Norse legendary sagas and the ''Nibelungenlied''. Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari (born Ermanno Wolf) (January 12, 1876 – January 21, 1948) was an Italian composer and teacher. He is best known for his comic operas such as '' Il segreto di Susanna'' (1909). A number of his works were based on plays by Carlo Goldoni, including ''Le donne curiose'' (1903), ''I quatro rusteghi'' (1906) and ''Il campiello'' (1936). Otto Köhler (25 June 1903 – 1 April 1976) was a German operatic baritone and voice teacher. Life Born in Neu-Isenburg, Köhler, like his cousin, the tenor Franz Völker, first completed an apprenticeship at Disconto-Bank in Frankfurt, where he subsequently worked as a bank clerk. Like Franz Völker, he was a member of the Gesangverein Frohsinn - Sängerbund 1834 Neu-Isenburg and also had singing lessons with Alexander Wellig-Bertram, who had also trained the baritone Heinrich Schlusnus. Peter Anders (1 July 1908 – 10 September 1954) was a German operatic tenor who sang a wide range of parts in the German, Italian, and French repertories. He began by singing lyric roles and later took dramatic roles with equal success. He was also a prominent lieder singer.
