Alan Rudkin
Alan Rudkin MBE (18 November 1941 – 22 September 2010) was a British national, Commonwealth, and European bantamweight boxing champion (1965–1970). He was born in St Asaph (Wales), as his pregnant mother was evacuated from Liverpool during the second world war. He was brought up in Dingle, Liverpool, and was a member of the Florence Institute. Rudkin won domestic British, Commonwealth & European titles at Bantamweight where he held a Lonsdale belt & also won a British title at Featherweight. He was noted for his 2 close fights with the great Walter McGowan, each winning one. He was a three times challenger for the undisputed World Championship, in Japan, Australia & Mexico. Rudkin appeared to be ahead on points but lost contentious decisions against both Masahiko “Fighting” Harada & Lionel Rose. He was decisively beaten by Rubén Olivares. He was appointed MBE in 1973. Brigadier-General Charles Mark Clement Rudkin Distinguished Service Order, DSO (12 November 1872 – 30 December 1957) was a British soldier, barrister, agriculturist, determined traveller and Liberal Party (UK), Liberal Party politician. James David Rudkin (born 29 June 1936) is an English playwright . Early life Rudkin was born in London. Coming from a family of strict evangelical Christians, he was educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham and read Mods and Greats at St Catherine's College, Oxford. Ethel Rudkin
Ethel Rudkin (189321 September 1985) was an English writer, historian, archaeologist and folklorist from Lincolnshire. She pioneered the collection of folk material, particularly from Lincolnshire, and her collections are now part of several public institutions, including the North Lincolnshire Museum. Biography Ethel Hutchinson was born in 1893 in Willoughton, Lincolnshire. Her parents were Richard and Ethel Hutchinson; her mother's family were originally from Suffolk. As a young woman she was employed both as a governess and a groom by the same family. In 1917 she married George Rudkin from Folkingham, and according to her obituary in ''Folklore'' had "a blissful but tragically brief marriage until his early death in 1918". Filipp Rudkin
Filipp Nikitovich Rudkin (; 27 November 1893 12 October 1954) was a Belarusian Soviet Army major general and a Hero of the Soviet Union. After fighting in World War I, he successively became a Cheka, OGPU, and NKVD officer, seeing action in the Russian Civil War. Rudkin was transferred to the reserve in 1938 but reinstated two years later. After the Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of the Soviet Union, began on 22 June 1941, he became an armor officer in the Red Army. Given command of a separate tank brigade, Rudkin led it in the Ostrogozhsk–Rossosh Offensive, Operation Star, and the Third Battle of Kharkov in early 1943. For his leadership he received the title Hero of the Soviet Union in March, and became commander of the 15th Tank Corps in June. After leading the unit in Operation Kutuzov, he was considered unsuited for corps command and relieved, being demoted to command a rear area tank training unit. Jon Rudkin (born 13 January 1968) is an English football coach currently working for Leicester City and Oud-Heverlee Leuven as its Director of Football, alongside his role as Academy Director. Leicester City Youth roles Rudkin was appointed the Academy Manager at Leicester City in June 2003 having previously been a schoolboy in the City youth system himself when he was 16 and working as a youth coach since 1998. After working as a coach on a part-time basis Rudkin took up the full-time post of Head Coach at the then centre of excellence. Margaret Loreta Rudkin (''née'' Fogarty, 1897 –1967) was the founder of Pepperidge Farm and first female member of the board at the Campbell Soup Company. Early life On September 14, 1897, Rudkin was born as Margaret Loreta Fogarty in Manhattan, New York City, New York. Rudkin's parents were Joseph J Fogarty, an Irish clerk, and Margaret Healy. Rudkin was the eldest of her four siblings. Rudkin had reddish hair and green eyes. Rudkin learned cooking from her grandmother, who started her off with cakes and biscuits. Captain Mark Rudkin was, in 1826, the last person known to have fought a duel in Newfoundland. The duel caused the death of Ensign John Philpot of the Royal Veteran Companies. Early career Rudkin was an Irish native, son of William Rudkin, Esq., of County Carlow. He was a veteran of the British Army who served in the Peninsular War, in the Low Countries, and in North America. He was made an ensign in 1805, and was a lieutenant by 1811, when he was wounded in the Battle of Fuentes de Oñoro, part of Wellington's Peninsula Campaign. He was taken as a prisoner of war in 1813 in actions following the Battle of Vitoria. Rudkin was promoted to full captain of his company on 3 March 1815. He was later stationed at St. John's, Newfoundland.
