Until 1 January 2007 Rudbjerg was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') on the southwest coast of the island of Lolland in the former Storstrøm County, southern Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 143 km², and had a total population of 3,432 (2005). Its last mayor was Tom Larsen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was Dannemare. Rudbjerg municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with existing Holeby, Højreby, Maribo, Nakskov, Ravnsborg, and Rødby municipalities to form the new Lolland municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 892 km² and a total population of 49,469 (2005). Lolland Municipality
Lolland municipality (on the island of Lolland) is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Sjælland in Denmark. According to ''Municipal And Regional Key Figures'' (www.noegletal.dk) it covers a total area of 885.40 km² (341.85 square miles) and has a population of 40,022 (1 March 2022;45.20 inh./sq.km/117.06/sq.mi.). The western part of Guldborgsund Municipality, the southernmost in Denmark, occupies the eastern part of the island (''Østlolland''). The city hall and the seat of the mayor of Lolland municipality is in Maribo while the largest town is Nakskov. There are 25 members from 1. January 2018 - a reduction from 31 members - of the municipal council. The current mayor is a Social Democrat. Dannemare
Dannemare is a village on the Danish island of Lolland located 11 km south of Nakskov and 19 km west of Rødby. As of 2022, it has a population of 406. History and heritage The area has a long history. A tomb from the 1st century AD has been discovered in Hoby while communities such as Tillitse and Kuditse have Wendian names indicating they were founded by the Wends before the 13th century. The area is also home to the historic manor houses of Ølligesøgård and Bådesgård. The runestone in Tillitse churchyard is from the early 11th century. Storstrøm County
Storstrøms Amt (English ''Storstrøm County'') is a former county (Danish: ''amt'') on the islands of Zealand (''Sjælland''), Møn, Falster, Lolland and some minor islands in southeast Denmark. The county was formed on 1 April 1970, comprising the former counties of Maribo and Præstø. The county was abolished effective January 1, 2007, when it merged into Region Sjælland (i.e. ''Region Zealand''). The county was a somewhat artificial construction as the islands of Lolland and Falster did not traditionally share any institutions with Zealand, but rather with Funen. Until 1 January 2007 Højreby was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') on the island of Lolland in Storstrøm County in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 128 km², and had a total population of 4,049 (2005). Its last mayor was Jytte Frijs, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The site of its municipal council was the town of Søllested. Højreby municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
