Ruby De Mel
Ruby Jasmine de Mel (born as රූබි ද මැල්) inhala 4 December 1917 – 8 November 2004) was a Sri lankan film actress in Sri Lankan cinema, stage drama and television. One of the earliest pillars in Sri Lankan film history, de Mel is best known for her roles in films ''Siriyalatha'', ''Kawata Andare'', ''Nalangana'' and Granny in television serial ''Amba Yahaluwo''. She died on 8 November 2004 by finishing a career that spanned more than six decades. Personal life De Mel was born in Moratuwa Kaldemulla area to an Anglicized Sinhala family as the youngest of a family with 12 siblings. Her father was James Perera and mother was Mary Liyanora. She attended to Princess of Wales' College, Moratuwa and Newstead Girls College, Negombo. She was an announcer for Radio Ceylon at its inception. Moratuwa
Moratuwa ( si, මොරටුව, ta, மொறட்டுவை) is a large suburb of Colombo, on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka, near Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia. It is situated on the Galle–Colombo (Galle road) main highway, south of the centre of Colombo. Moratuwa is surrounded on three sides by water, except in the north of the city, by the Indian Ocean on the west, the Lake Bolgoda on the east and the Moratu river on the south. According to the 2012 census, the suburb had a population of 168,280. Moratuwa is also the birthplace of Veera Puran Appu, a resistance fighter against British rule in Matale, the philanthropist Sir Charles Henry de Soysa and the musician Pandit W. D. Amaradeva. ''Aadara Hasuna'' is a 1986 Sri Lankan thriller film directed by H.D. Premaratne. Plot Vasanthi Chaturani is a young wife of a retired army officer (Joe Abeywickrama). ''Kadawunu Poronduwa'' is a 1982 Sinhala drama film directed by Roy de Silva and produced by his wife Sumana Amarasinghe. It is a remake of the first Sinhala film ''Kadawunu Poronduwa''.
