Ruby (1977 Film)
''Ruby'' is a 1977 American supernatural horror film directed by Curtis Harrington, and starring Piper Laurie, Stuart Whitman, and Roger Davis. Its plot follows a former gun moll in 1951 Florida who operates a drive-in theater, where bizarre supernatural occurrences begin to plague her staff of ex-mobsters, as well as her mute daughter. Plot In 1935 Florida, lowlife mobster Nicky Rocco is betrayed and executed in the swampy backwoods as his pregnant gun moll Ruby Claire watches. He swears vengeance with his dying breath, and then she suddenly goes into labor. Sixteen years later in 1951, Ruby is now running a drive-in theater in the backwoods near her home and employs ex-mobsters to run the theater. Curtis Harrington
Gene Curtis Harrington (September 17, 1926 – May 6, 2007) was an American film and television director whose work included experimental films, horror films and episodic television. He is considered one of the forerunners of New Queer Cinema. Life and career Early life Harrington was born on September 17, 1926 in Los Angeles, the son of Isabel (Dorum) and Raymond Stephen Harrington. He grew up in Beaumont, California. His first cinematic endeavors were amateur films he made while still a teenager. RiffTrax is an American company that produces scripted humorous commentary tracks which are synced to mostly public domain feature films, education shorts, and television episodes. With the talents of former ''Mystery Science Theater 3000'' (''MST3K'') cast members and writers, RiffTrax also produces several live shows each year which are broadcast to movie theaters. The style of commentating originated from MST3K, their earlier television series, in which they would similarly mock (or "riff") films aloud while watching them. Juran (credited as Nathan Hertz) and starring Allison Hayes, William Hudson and Yvette Vickers. It was produced by Bernard Woolner. Edward Donno (July 24, 1935October 19, 2014) was an American actor and stunt performer with a career that spanned almost 50 years. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Donno was originally a singer before traveling to Texas in the 1960s to visit a friend on the set of '' The Alamo'', where he acquired a role as an extra.
