Gennaro Rubino
Gennaro Rubino (November 23, 1859Milillo, 90. – March 14, 1918; also spelled Rubini) was an Italian anarchist who unsuccessfully tried to assassinate King Leopold II of Belgium. Early life Rubino was born in Bitonto, during the period of Italian unification. While serving in the Italian army as a young man, Rubino was condemned to five years' detention for writing a subversive newspaper article. In 1898, he was arrested again during bread riots in Milan. Rather than serving a lengthy prison sentence, Rubino fled the country. He first took up residence in Glasgow, Scotland and then moved to London. He was unable to find work, however, until offered assistance by the Italian Embassy. He was then employed by the Italian Secret Service to spy on anarchist organizations in London. He was dismissed from the job, however, once embassy officials discovered that he sympathized with the anarchists. Antonio Rubino (15 May 1880 – 1 July 1964) was an Italian illustrator, cartoonist, animation director, screenwriter, playwright, author and poet. He was the most prolific comics illustrator in Italy before World War I. Biography Born Antonio Augusto Rubino in Sanremo, Rubino graduated in law. Then, as an autodidact, he turned his focus to drawing, debuting as the illustrator of Alberto Colantuoni's book ''L'Albatros''. After collaborating with several newspapers and magazines, in 1908 he started a collaboration as illustrator and cartoonist with the children's magazine ''Corriere dei Piccoli'', for which he created numerous successful comic characters, notably Quadratino and Italino.B.P. Anthony Eugene Rubino (June 20, 1921 – November 30, 1983) was an American football player. A native of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, Rubino attended Elizabeth Forward High School. He played college football at Wake Forest where he was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity. He played professional football in the National Football League (NFL) as a guard for the Detroit Lions in 1943 and 1946. He appeared in 21 NFL games, six as a starter.
