Rubicon (The Duggans Album)
''Rubicon'' is the debut studio album by The Duggans (brothers Noel and Padraig, members of Clannad). It was released in 2005. From the press release: On this, their first solo album, they have gathered together friends made over the years for a remarkable collaboration of talents. They have, perhaps, travelled full circle. In an official interview on Clannad's official website, Padraig Duggan explains the song "Liza", which appeared on Clannad's debut album as well as on ''Rubicon''. The song is used internationally in schools and on Summer Gaeltacht courses in Belfast, Donegal and further afield: In the early 1970’s, Clannad won the Letterkenny Folk Festival with that song. The Duggans
The Duggans ( ga, Na Dúgáiní) were an Irish musical duo from Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland. The twin brothers Noel Duggan and Pádraig Duggan ( ga, Ó Dúgáin) came to prominence in the 1970s with the folk group Clannad, and took a ten-year break after winning a Grammy Award for their 1998 album ''Landmarks''. They later toured extensively with their band Norland Wind. They were identified and introduced to television by Tony MacMahon, and in 2005 released their first studio album ''Rubicon'', which featured Moya Brennan, Finbar Furey and Órla Fallon among others. It was met with critical acclaim and sold well throughout Ireland. Pádraig Duggan died in 2016 and Noel Duggan died in 2022. Ian has played keyboards with The Hollies since 1991 and with Clannad from 1988 to 2016, extensively touring the world and recording with both bands. The Fureys
The Fureys are an Irish folk band originally formed in 1974. The group consisted initially of four brothers who grew up in Ballyfermot, Dublin. Brothers Eddie, Finbar, Paul and George Furey are of Irish Traveller heritage. Two of the band's singles have been number one hits in Ireland, and two of their albums charted in the United Kingdom. In collaborations with Davey Arthur, they have also been credited as The Fureys and Davey Arthur. Moya Brennan (born Máire Philomena Ní Bhraonáin on 4 August 1952), also known as Máire Brennan, is an Irish folk singer, songwriter, harpist, and philanthropist. Brídín Ní Bhraonáin, professionally known as Brídín Brennan, is an Irish pop singer from Dobhar (Dore), Gweedore, County Donegal. She is the sister of Enya, Moya and Pól Brennan, and has also toured with family-band Clannad. Her precise birthdate is unknown, but is likely in July 1968. A brief mention in the 21 July 1989 edition of the "Donegal Democrat" newspaper noted that her 21st birthday had occurred "recently." Her career began when her sister Moya asked her to join as a vocalist at Clannad's live performances. Máire Breatnach
Máire Breatnach is an Irish fiddle, violin and viola player. She also sings in Irish on some of her albums. Since the early 1990s, she has recorded five solo albums, participated in many collaborations, and developed didactic material for children, mostly in Irish. Early life Born in Dublin, Máire Breatnach obtained a B.A., B.Mus. and M.A. degrees at UCD, in Dublin where she lectured, as she also did in the College of Music, DIT before starting a freelance career as a performing musician.
