Rubbish Party
The Rubbish Party is a minor political party in Scotland that returned a candidate at the 2017 East Ayrshire Council election, in East Ayrshire, Scotland. The party was re-elected in the 2022 election. The party was registered by Sally Cogley, of Galston, two months before the election, due to her concern over issues of waste and littering. History Prior to forming The Rubbish Party, Cogley was known locally for her anti-litter activism, having organised a series of social media campaigns against fly-tipping and dog fouling in the Loudoun (Irvine) Valley area. Cogley formed the party and launched her candidacy for office with a series of clean-up events in the local area and campaigned under such slogans as "Vote Sally for a better valley". Her campaign assured voters that she "aims to make the Irvine Valley a better place to work, live and visit." Cessnock Castle

The Campbells first owned the property, and it was owned thereafter by the families of Dick, Wallace, and Scott, before being acquired by the De Fresnes in 1946. Structure The massive keep, which stands in a ravine of the Burnanne has three storeys, and an attic, to which a large mansion has been added, making the building U-plan. Local government in Scotland comprises thirty-two local authorities, commonly referred to as councils. Each council provides public services, including education, social care, waste management, libraries and planning. Councils receive the majority of their funding from the Scottish Government, but operate independently and are accountable to their local electorates. Irvine Valley (ward)
Irvine Valley is one of the nine electoral wards of East Ayrshire Council. Created in 2007, the ward elects three councillors using the single transferable vote electoral system. Originally a four-member ward, Irvine Valley was reduced in size following a boundary review and has elected three councillors since the 2017 East Ayrshire Council election. As a four-member ward, the area favoured the Scottish National Party (SNP) but since the boundary changes in 2017, the ward has been split between the SNP, Labour and The Rubbish Party. Boundaries The ward was created following the Fourth Statutory Reviews of Electoral Arrangements ahead of the 2007 Scottish local elections. A cleanup is a form of environmental volunteering where a group of people get together to pick-up and dispose of litter in a designated location. Cleanups can take place on a street, in a neighborhood, at a park, on a water stream, or other public spaces. Cleanup events are often volunteer run. The cleanup volunteers make sure the waste picked-up is disposed of in its appropriate place. Cleanup events are often community-centered and led. During the COVID 19 pandemic litter picking participation has greatly increased in the UK. There are a vast range of reasons that people take part in litter picking activities. Illegal dumping, also called fly dumping or fly tipping ( UK), is the dumping of waste illegally instead of using an authorized method such as curbside collection or using an authorized rubbish dump. It is the illegal deposit of any waste onto land, including waste dumped or tipped on a site with no license to accept waste. The United States Environmental Protection Agency developed a “profile” of the typical illegal dumper. Characteristics of offenders include local residents, construction and landscaping contractors, waste removers, scrap yard operators, and automobile and tire repair shops. Terminology Illegal dumping is typically distinguished from littering by the type and amount of material and/or the manner in which it is discarded.
