Royal Trophy
The Royal Trophy was a men's professional team golf tournament which was played between 2006 and 2013. The competing teams represented Europe and Asia. Eight man teams played a series of 16 matches involving foursomes, four-ball and singles for the right to hold a trophy donated by the King of Thailand. The first four contests, from 2006 to 2010, were played at the Amata Spring Country Club in Chonburi, Thailand. In 2011 the event moved to a different venue in Thailand and then moved to Brunei and China. The Royal Trophy was one of several team golf tournaments between teams from different regions of the world started since the 1990s, inspired by the popularity of the Ryder Cup. In March 2014 the European Tour and the Asian Tour launched a new team tournament, the EurAsia Cup, also played between teams represented Europe and Asia. 2007 Royal Trophy
The 2007 Royal Trophy was the second edition of the Royal Trophy, a team golf event contested between teams representing Asia and Europe. It was held from 12–14 January at the Amata Spring Country Club in Thailand. Europe retained the trophy with an emphatic 12½–3½ victory, prompting suggestions that it might be desirable to even up the contest by having Europe play a combined team representing Asia and Australasia. Masahiro Kuramoto
is a Japanese professional golfer. Early life Kuramoto was born in Hiroshima Prefecture. He turned professional in 1981. Professional career Kuramoto won 30 tournaments on the Japan Golf Tour, ranking fifth on the career list. He ranks seventh on the career money list with earnings of just over 1 billion ¥. Kuramoto was medalist at the 1992 PGA Tour qualifying school and had full playing rights on the tour in 1993. He played 65 times on the PGA Tour from 1978 to 1997. His best finish was tied for fourth place at the 1982 Open Championship, which was also his best finish in a major championship. José María Olazábal
José María Olazábal Manterola (, ; born 5 February 1966) is a Spanish professional golfer from the Basque region who has enjoyed success on both the European Tour and the PGA Tour, and has won two major championships, both at The Masters. In 2012 he captained Europe's Ryder Cup team to a narrow victory over the US, which seemed improbable at the start of the final day's play when the Europeans trailed 10–6. They came back to win 14½–13½. Match Play
Match play is a scoring system for golf in which a player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents; as opposed to stroke play, in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. Ian Harold Woosnam (born 2 March 1958) is a Welsh professional golfer. Nicknamed 'Woosie', Woosnam was one of the "Big Five" generation of European golfers, all born within 12 months of one another, all of whom have won majors, and made Europe competitive in the Ryder Cup.
