Roy McKay (baseball)
Roy Alexander McKay (August 1, 1933 – December 25, 1995) was an aggressive left-handed baseball pitcher born in London, Ontario, Canada, who signed with the Detroit Tigers organization in 1952 after spending much of his youth at Labatt Park, including a stint as batboy for the Ontario Baseball Association champions, the 1945 London Majors of the Intercounty Baseball League. In 1953 and 1955, McKay pitched in Douglas, Georgia, United States, and Idaho Falls, Idaho, before returning to his hometown to play for the Intercounty League's London Majors where he was named the league's most valuable pitcher in 1957. In 1958, McKay's best Intercounty season as a hurler, he had a 2.79 ERA and topped the circuit in hitting batters with pitches at 16. Baseball
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. Bob Ferguson (journalist)
Robert Ferguson (July 1, 1931November 23, 2014) was a Canadian sports journalist and writer. He began in journalism with ''The London Free Press'' from 1952 to 1964, and was colour commentator for baseball games broadcast on CFPL (AM). He also served as the official statistician of the Intercounty Baseball League from 1958 to 1966, and owned the London Majors, London Pontiacs in the same league during the 1963 and 1964 seasons. He later worked for the ''Ottawa Citizen'' from 1967 to 1996, and was the paper's first writer assigned to cover the Montreal Expos. He believed in giving angry athletes a second chance at a better quote to avoid making the player look bad, and was a board member for Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. He wrote ''Who's Who in Canadian Sport'', a book of biographies for Canadian sports persons; first published in 1977, with subsequent volumes in 1985, 1999 and 2005. Friends Of Labatt Park
Friends of Labatt Park is a grassroots, non-profit (unincorporated) group of volunteers dedicated to "promoting and enhancing Labatt Park in London, Ontario, Canada, as the world's oldest baseball grounds in continuous use in its original location since 1877." In this regard, "Friends" has a custodial fund set up with the City of London's treasurer whereby all donations of $25 or more will result in the donor being issued a tax-deductible receipt by the City of London. Arden Eddie
Arden Eddie (born August 4, 1947) is a Canadian former baseball player, team owner and manager who played in the Intercounty Baseball League. He holds several Intercounty records, including most games played (834), most bases on balls (668) and most stolen bases (170). In 2007, Eddie was inducted into the London Sports Hall of Fame. Off the field, Eddie is a realtor and home renovator. He spent 37 years involved with the Intercounty League (33 years as a player for the London Majors: 1967–1999; 27 years as owner of the Majors: 1977-February 2004), before he sold the team to 36-year-old London mortgage consultant Scott Dart after the 2003 baseball season. Eddie was born in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada (where he has been inducted into the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame), but moved to London, Ontario, Canada, in 1967 at age 18.
