Robert Roy Evans (born March 19, 1874) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He pitched from 1897 to 1903 for six different franchises. He was a graduate of Emporia State University. He was best known for scamming teams out of their money. He was thought to have died in the 1915 Galveston Hurricane The 1915 Galveston hurricane was a tropical cyclone that caused extensive damage in the Galveston area in August 1915. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk.
