Roy James Brown (September 10, 1920 or 1925May 25, 1981) was an American blues singer who had a significant influence on the early development of rock and roll and the direction of R&B. His original song and hit recording " Good Rockin' Tonight" has been covered by many artists including Wynonie Harris, Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Joe Ely, Ricky Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pat Boone, James Brown, the Doors, and the rock group Montrose. Revolución" (Disco Libre) Early years Brown's father was an American United States Navy, naval officer and his mother a native of Puerto Rican citizenship, Puerto Rico. Brown was raised during turbulent times in the United States. Among the important issues of those days were racism, the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War. Most of these events went on to form an important part in his ideals and his way of thinking. In the late-1960s, Brown enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico. Roy Thomas Brown (8 July 1932 – 22 January 2001) was an American television personality, puppeteer, clown and artist known for playing "Cooky the Cook" (also Cooky the Clown) on Chicago's '' Bozo's Circus''. Early years Roy Brown was born in Tucson, Arizona but had lived in the Chicago area since he was a boy. His mother was an artist with an at-home studio, which gave him the opportunity to also become interested in art. Brown graduated from Chicago's Austin High School; when he entered the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, Brown intended to become a cartoonist. He started working on the children's series '' Garfield Goose and Friends'' at WBKB-TV in 1952 as a puppeteer and art director. Roy Drysdale Brown FIMechE FIET (born 4 December 1946) is a British engineer and business executive, who was the chairman of the international engineering conglomerate GKN from 2004 until 2012. He attended the independent Tonbridge School. On a GEC scholarship he went to University College London, where he gained a BSc in Mechanical Engineering. Francis Roy Brown (September 13, 1896 – November 30, 1960) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a Liberal-Progressive from 1953 to 1958. Brown was educated in Winnipeg. He enlisted in the Cycle Corps at the beginning of World War I, and served overseas in France, seeing action at Ypres, Vimy Ridge, and Passchendaele. Brown joined the Royal Flying Corps in 1917, and remained with this group until the end of the war. Roy Brown (born February 16, 1951) is a former Montana state senator from Billings, Montana Senate District 25. He served four terms in the Montana House of Representatives and was elected to the state senate in 2007. He was the Republican nominee for the governor seat in Montana with Steve Daines in 2008. Roy Henry Brown (20 December 1923 – November 1989) was an English professional footballer who played as both a centre half and a striker. Brown was the first black player in the history of his first team, Stoke City. Brown also played for Watford, making a total of 212 appearances in the Football League for both clubs. His brother later became Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent. Career Brown was born in Stoke-on-Trent and was the son of a Nigerian father, and English mother. He joined Stoke City in 1939 and played for the club during World War II whilst also serving with the army.
