Roxanne Lowit
Roxanne Elizabeth Lowit (February 22, 1942 – September 13, 2022) was an American fashion and celebrity photographer. Lowit was said to have "become as much a celebrity as those she photographed." Career Lowit did not go to school to be a photographer. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York with a degree in art history and textile design. It was during her successful career as a textile designer that she realized something. "I paint and there were people who I wanted to sit for me but had no time, so I started taking pictures of them. I liked the gratification of getting the instant image so I traded in my paintbrushes for a camera." Lowit started taking pictures in the late 70s with her 110 Instamatic, photographing her own designs at the New York fashion shows. Dame Vivienne Isabel Westwood (née Swire; born 8 April 1941) is an English fashion designer and businesswoman, largely responsible for bringing modern punk and new wave fashions into the mainstream. Westwood came to public notice when she made clothes for the boutique that she and Malcolm McLaren ran on King's Road, which became known as SEX. Their ability to synthesise clothing and music shaped the 1970s UK punk scene which was dominated by McLaren's band, the Sex Pistols.
