Rowlett Creek is a creek that flows through Collin, Dallas and Rockwall Counties in Texas. Course The creek rises west of McKinney and flows south-east through Rowlett Creek Park before passing under the Sam Rayburn Tollway and into Plano. In Plano the creek passes through the Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve before continuing south into Breckinridge Park in Richardson and then into Garland where it diverts in an eastern direction. The creek flows under the President George Bush Turnpike before reaching the Rowlett Creek Dallas County Nature Preserve, here it flows south before reaching Lake Ray Hubbard in Rowlett. McKinney is a city in and the county seat of Collin County, Texas. It is Collin County's third-largest city, after Plano and Frisco. Lake Ray Hubbard, formerly Eastern Dallas Lake or Forney Lake, is a freshwater impoundment (reservoir) located in Dallas, Texas in the counties of Dallas County, Texas, Dallas, Kaufman County, Texas, Kaufman, Collin County, Texas, Collin, and Rockwall County, Texas, Rockwall, just north of the Forney, Texas, City of Forney. It was created by the construction of the Rockwall-Forney Dam, which impounded the East Fork Trinity River (Texas), Trinity River. Sam Rayburn Tollway
The Sam Rayburn Tollway (formerly the State Highway 121 Tollway) is a tollway operated by the North Texas Tollway Authority that runs from Grapevine to McKinney. Its frontage road are signed State Highway 121. The original portion of the toll road from Business 121 near Coppell to FM 2281 opened in May 2006, and toll collection started December 1 of that year. The tolled portion extended to Hillcrest Road in Plano/Frisco on August 31, 2008. The tollway was extended to Custer Road on September 1, 2009, and again to Hardin Boulevard in McKinney on October 1, 2009. Plano ( ) is a city in Collin County, Texas, Collin County and Denton County, Texas, United States. It had a population of 285,494 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. Oak Point Park And Nature Preserve
Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is an 800-acre park in Plano, TX and is the largest park in the city. The park has 3.5 miles of concrete trails and 5 miles of soft trails, many of which are located along Rowlett Creek. In the southeastern region of the park, there is an equestrian area where visitors can ride horses. There are 26 trails. The North Trail connects to the Six Cities Trail in Allen, which connects to the Bluebonnet Trail. Timber Chase Trail is a 0.88-mile trail which borders the main lake in the center of the park. Wildlife includes bobcats, coyotes, snakes, rabbits, turtles, and fish. Visitors can take the paved multi-use trail to the neighboring Bob Woodruff Park to see the oldest tree in Plano, a 200-year-old Bur Oak. The President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) is a toll road running through the northern, northeastern and western suburbs, forming a partial loop around Dallas, Texas, United States.
