Rowland Berkeley (died 1611)
Rowland Berkeley (about 1548 – 1 June 1611) of Worcester, England, Worcester and Spetchley was an English cloth merchant, clothier and politician who sat in the House of Commons of England, House of Commons at various times between 1593 and 1611. Berkeley was the eighth son of William Berkeley, mayor and MP for Hereford, great-nephew of William de Berkeley, 1st Marquess of Berkeley, William, 1st Marquess of Berkeley. Worcester and Spetchley Rowland Berkeley became a successful clothier at Worcester. He bought Spetchley Park from Philip Sheldon. He was bailiff of Worcester in 1585 and 1587. He was appointed first master of the Clothers Company of Worcester under the Clothers Charter of 23 September 1590. After his death his eldest son acquired extensive property in Cotheridge. Henry Bright (schoolmaster, Born 1562)
Henry Bright (baptised 26 October 1562 – 4 March 1627) was a clergyman and schoolmaster in Worcester. He served for 38 years Headmaster at The King's School, Worcester, and is mentioned by Thomas Fuller and Anthony Wood as an exceptional teacher, particularly of Latin, Greek and Hebrew. Many of his pupils are notable for their faculty in Latin and Greek and their impact on theological matters. Life Bright was baptised at the Church of St. Peter the Great in Worcester on 26 October 1562. He was the eldest son of James Bright, son of Nathaniel Bright (1493–1564). He was probably educated at King's Worcester himself, and matriculated at Brasenose College, Oxford as a "plebeian" in 1580, aged 18. Having moved to Balliol College, Oxford, he graduated B.A. (1584) and M.A. (1587), and was elected to a fellowship at Balliol in 1585. Thomas Chettle
Thomas Chettle (died c 1640) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons in 1614. Chettle was of Worcester and was possibly admitted to Gray's Inn in 1569. He was bailiff of Worcester in 1603 and 1605. In 1614, he was elected Member of Parliament for Worcester. John Coucher
John Coucher (born 1561) was an English merchant and politician who sat in the House of Commons variously between 1604 and 1648. Coucher was the son of John Coucher of Worcester. He was a citizen and weaver and was appointed first of the first assistants of the Clothier's Company on 23 September 1590. He was bailiff of Worcester in 1593 and 1595. In 1604 Coucher was elected Member of Parliament for Worcester. He was re-elected MP for Worcester in 1614, 1621 and 1624. He was an alderman of Worcester in 1621. In 1628 he was re-elected again for Worcester and sat until 1629 when King Charles decided to rule without parliament for eleven years. Coucher was fined £10 on 4 March 1631 for not taking a knighthood at the coronation.
