Giuseppe Moioli
Giuseppe Moioli (born 8 August 1927) is an Italian Rowing (sport), rower who competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics, in the 1952 Summer Olympics, and in the 1956 Summer Olympics. Moioli was born in Mandello del Lario, Olcio di Mandello Lario in 1927. A worker at the Italian motorbike manufacturer Moto Guzzi based at their plant in Mandello del Lario, he became a member of the company's rowing team, Canottieri Moto Guzzi. A coxless four was formed with Moioli, Elio Morille, Giovanni Invernizzi (rower), Giovanni Invernizzi, and Franco Faggi. The first time they left their home training ground, Lake Como, was when they travelled to the 1947 European Rowing Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland. Little known in rowing circles, they unexpectedly won the gold medal in their boat class. The four were to dominate this boat class until 1952, continuously winning all races they rowed including all heats. Hein Van Suylekom
Hendrik Christiaan "Hein" van Suylekom (17 March 1904 – 11 December 1982) was a Dutch rower. Together with Carel van Wankum he won three bronze medals at the European championships of 1925–1927. Tony Butcher
Anthony Sidney Fairbank Butcher (1 June 1926 – 20 August 2009) was an English rower who competed for Great Britain in the 1948 Olympic Games and won Silver Goblets at Henley Royal Regatta. Butcher was educated at Cambridge University and rowed for Cambridge in the Boat Race in 1947. He became a member of Thames Rowing Club. He competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics in the coxless fours. Butcher recalled that at these post-war austerity Olympics, his kit was made by his mother from terry towelling. In 1949 he won the Silver Goblets at Henley, partnering Tom Christie. At the 1950 British Empire Games he was a member of the English eight which won bronze medal. Personal life Tony Butcher was married to wife Peggy and had four children, John, Adrian, David and Marilyn. He lived for most of his life in Beaconsfield. Tom Christie (rower)
Thomas Hildred Christie (26 March 1927 – 11 October 2017) was a doctor and rower who represented Great Britain rowing at the 1948 Summer Olympics and twice won Silver Goblets at Henley Royal Regatta. Biography Christie trained as a doctor at King's College, and was a member of Thames Rowing Club. In the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, he was a member of the coxless fours crew. In 1949 he won the Silver Goblets at Henley, partnering Tony Butcher. He also won the Wyfold in 1946 for King's College London, and the Grand and the Stewards in 1948 for Thames Rowing Club. Christie qualified as a doctor in 1950 and spent time at Westminster Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital training in anaesthetics. He won Silver Goblets at Henley again in 1952 representing Westminster Hospital and partnering H C I Baywater.
