Eton Dorney
Dorney Lake (also known as Eton College Rowing Centre, and as Eton Dorney as a 2012 Summer Olympics venue) is a purpose-built rowing lake in England. It is near the village of Dorney, Buckinghamshire, and is around 3 km (2 miles) west of Windsor and Eton, close to the River Thames. The lake is privately owned and financed by Eton College, which spent £17 million developing it. Additional grants, totalling £500,000, were obtained from Sport England, UK Sport, the DCMS and SEEDA in order to build the lake's finish tower. The project was completed in 2006, after 10 years of construction. Although it is primarily for use by the school, the facilities are hired out for rowing, as well as for canoeing, dragon boating, open water swimming and triathlon. 2012 Olympic venue The lake was used as the 2012 Summer Olympic venue for rowing and canoe sprint, and as the 2012 Summer Paralympic venue for rowing. Julia Edward (born 20 February 1991) is a New Zealand rower, a two time world champion in the women's lightweight double sculls. Career In 2010, she won silver in the lightweight double sculls at the U23 world championships with Lucy Strack. A year later, she won bronze in the same event with Alyce Pulford. She competed with Louise Ayling at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Together with Sophie MacKenzie, she was world champion in the lightweight double scull for two years in a row; first at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, and then at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette. Lindsay Jennerich (born 30 July 1982) is a Canadian rower. A world champion in the lightweight double sculls with Tracy Cameron, she competed in the lightweight double sculls at both the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in 2016 with Patricia Obee. Career In 2010, Jennerich and Tracy Cameron won gold in the women's lightweight double sculls at the 2010 World Championships. Hannah Every-Hall (born 18 November 1977 in Bendigo) is an Australian former rower, a national champion, World Champion and Olympian. Bronwe Watson (born 23 February 1977) is an Australian former representative rower. She is a national champion, two-time World Champion and an Olympian. Personal Watson was born in Milton, New South Wales. Her father David is an Olympian, who competed at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics in road cycling. She attended Heathcote High School and lived in Sydney, and worked at the University of Sydney. Club and state rowing Watson competed in the lightweight category and had most success in double and quad sculls. She was coached by Phil Bourguignon, and rowed from the Sydney University Boat Club.
