Route 97 is a highway in southwest Missouri. Its northern terminus is at Route 32 eight miles (13 km) south of El Dorado Springs; its southern terminus is at Route 86, four miles north of Wheaton. Route description Route 97 starts at a curve of Route 32, 8 miles south of El Dorado Springs. Runs south for 8 miles, where State Hwy B joins it for a 2-mile stretch to the western edge of Jerico Springs. On the western side of Jerico Springs, the road turns to the east. In downtown Jerico Springs, Hwy B continues straight; while 97 turns to the south. 3 miles south of Jerico Springs, at the junction of State Hwy D, 97 turns east for a few miles, before turning back south to Lockwood. At Lockwood, 97 intersects US Route 160. It then crosses the BNSF railroad Fort Scott sub in downtown Lockwood; then runs south for 14 miles to a junction with Missouri Route 96. Pierce City, Missouri
Pierce City, formerly Peirce City, is a city in southwest Lawrence and northwest Barry counties, in southwest Missouri, United States. The population was 1,292 at the 2010 census. In 2010, the town annexed property along Route 97 into Barry County to a point just north of U.S. Route 60. It was estimated to be 1,309 by the City of Pierce City as of July 1, 2019. History There was once a small village called St. Martha about two and a half miles west of Pierce City. It was surveyed for William Robert Wild on Section 30, Pierce Township, May 9, 1870. Wild committed suicide there on June 8, 1870. Nothing remains of the village. Founding and spelling Pierce City was laid out in 1870 as a stop on the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. It was originally spelled Peirce City, named for Andrew Peirce, Jr. of Boston, president of the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway. Pulaskifield is an unincorporated area, unincorporated community located in Capps Creek Township, Barry County, Missouri, Barry County, Missouri, United States. The area was originally known as Bricefield (named for J. Brice Hudson whose father owned the land on which the general store of August Dombroski (first postmaster) was located and in which the post office was established in 1893); archaically misspelled Brassfield or Brycefield. US Route 60
U.S. Route 60 is a major east–west United States highway, traveling from southwestern Arizona to the Atlantic Ocean coast in Virginia. The highway's eastern terminus is in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where it is known as Pacific Avenue, in the city's Oceanfront resort district at the intersection of 5th Street and Winston-Salem Avenue. Its original western terminus was in Springfield, Missouri; it was then extended to Los Angeles, California, but in 1964, it was truncated to end southwest of Brenda, Arizona, at an interchange with Interstate 10 (I-10) after the US 60 highway designation was removed from California. Missouri Route 37
Route 37 is a highway in southwest Missouri. Its northern terminus is at U.S. Route 160 in Golden City (it shares this terminus with Route 126); its southern terminus is at the Arkansas state line where it continues as Highway 37, though it only runs ''very'' briefly before ending at U.S. Route 62 in Gateway, Arkansas. Route description Route 37 begins as a continuation of Arkansas Highway 37 which starts about one half of a mile south of the state line in Gateway, Arkansas. It then passes through Seligman and intersects the southern terminus of Route 112. Route 37 then intersects Route 90 in Washburn and then enters Cassville, where it intersects Route 86 and the northern terminus of Route 112.
