Nueva Italia (Spanish for ''New Italy'') is a town in the Central Department of Paraguay. History Nueva Italia was created in 1904 by the Paraguay government in order to establish some colonists from Italy and their 18 families in a farming area 40 km south of the capital Asunción. In addition to Italians, a community of German and Ukrainian emigrants also moved to Nueva Italia. The first manager-administrator of this ''Colonia Nueva Italia'' (as was officially named) was the Italian count Enrico Statella. After WW1 many Italians returned to Italy or moved to the capital Asuncion, but the settlement -after an initial crisis- survived & remained as a small agricultural center. Mura, Musto and Carolini were some of the Italian families that remained and perfectly integrated with the local Paraguayan population. Carapeguá (, ''Guaraní: Karapegua'') is a city and ''district'' of the Paraguarí Department, Paraguay, located 84 km from Asunción. It was founded in 1725. La Colmena is a town and ''distrito'' in the Paraguarí Department of Paraguay. It is the first Japanese colony of the country. History Japanese settlement in Paraguay intensified after Brazil legally limited immigration from the Far East in 1934. Seeking alternatives the Japanese turned to Paraguay. In 1936, 100 Japanese families established a colony at La Colmena. The 24,000-acre site was selected after evaluation by agronomic experts, but the team was limited by restrictions set by the Japanese company that managed the settlement. Climate Based on data collected between 1938 and 1945, the climate in La Colmena exhibits extreme variability in rainfall, a feature common to Paraguay as a whole, though La Colmena receives more rainfall than the nearby capital Asunción. San Salvador, Paraguay
San Salvador is a district of the Guairá Department, Paraguay. It is located in 18 kilometers southwest of Villarrica, the capital of the department, over the old train rails. It's also known as the former Borja station. The activities of the inhabitants are agricultural and cattle growing. Patronal Celebrations Every January 6 the streets are decorated and the people gets ready for the Mass directed by the Bishop of the Villarrica Dioceses. Every year the people celebrate the party honoring its saint patron Child Savior of the World. His image could be found in the church of the same name.
