Vermont Route 14 (VT 14) is a north–south state highway in northeastern Vermont, United States. It extends from U.S. Route 4 (US 4) and US 5 in White River Junction to VT 100 in Newport. Between White River Junction and the city of Barre, the route parallels Interstate 89 (I-89). VT 14 was originally designated in 1922 as part of the New England road marking system. Its north end was truncated in 1926 as a result of the designation of US 2 but was extended north along an old alignment of VT 12 in the 1960s. White River Junction is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the New England town, town of Hartford, Vermont, Hartford in Windsor County, Vermont, Windsor County, Vermont, United States. The population was 2,528 at the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, up from 2,286 in 2010 United States Census, 2010, making it the largest community within the town of Hartford. U.S. Route 4 (US 4) in the U.S. state of Vermont extends for between the New York (state), New York state line at Fair Haven, Vermont, Fair Haven and the New Hampshire state line at White River Junction, Vermont, White River Junction. It is one of the main arteries between New York and New Hampshire. Vermont Route 107
Vermont Route 107 (VT 107) is an east–west state highway in Windsor County, Vermont, United States. It runs for from VT 100 in Stockbridge in the west to VT 14 in Royalton in the east. VT 107 mostly serves to connect VT 100 to Interstate 89 (I-89). Route description VT 107 begins at an intersection with VT 100 in the town of Stockbridge. It follows the course of the White River east and northeast through the community of Riverside. Northeast of Riverside, VT 107 enters the town of Bethel, where it intersects VT 12. Royalton is a town in Windsor County, Vermont, United States. The population was 2,750 at the 2020 census. It includes the villages of Royalton, South Royalton, and North Royalton. Vermont Law School, the state's only accredited law school, is located in South Royalton. History The town was chartered on November 23, 1769 by Cadwallader Colden, Royal Lieutenant Governor of New York. The first permanent settlers were Robert Havens and his family, who arrived in 1771. Royalton was re-chartered by the Independent Republic of Vermont on December 20, 1781. The 1780 Royalton Raid was the last major British raid of the American War of Independence in New England. Vermont Route 110 (VT 110) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Vermont. The highway runs from VT 14 in Royalton in northern Windsor County north to U.S. Route 302 (US 302) in the town of Barre in central Washington County. South Royalton is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Royalton, Windsor County, Vermont, United States. With a population at the 2010 census of 694, South Royalton is the largest community in the town. It is home to the Vermont Law School. The central portion of the village is a historic district, listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the South Royalton Historic District. Vermont Route 132 (VT 132) is a state highway in eastern Vermont, United States. It runs east to west from U.S. Route 5 in Norwich to VT 14 (VT 14) in Sharon from the New Hampshire border in the east. The route interchanges with Interstate 89 (I-89) at exit 2, an interchange situated from the VT 14 junction. Sharon is a town in Windsor County, Vermont, United States. It had a population of 1,560 at the 2020 census. Sharon is the birthplace of Joseph Smith, founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, and as such is an important historical site for members of that religion. The town is also home to The Sharon Academy, an independent middle and high school. History One of the New Hampshire grants, the township was created on August 17, 1761, by a royal charter which King George III of the United Kingdom issued to Governor Benning Wentworth. West Hartford is an unincorporated community village in the town of Hartford, Windsor County, Vermont. It is the most rural of Hartford's five villages, situated on the White River and crossed by the Appalachian Trail. Almost half of the village was wiped out by a flood in 1927. Some areas have been developed for residential use, but significant forest, farming, and open land remains. West Hartford has a country store, a post office, many shops, a small library, and a town park along the White River, which is also a popular fishing site.
