Round Rock Public Library
Round Rock Public Library (RRPL) is a public library located in Round Rock, Texas History The library building stands on a corner lot on the Main Street in downtown Round Rock, the site of the Sam Bass shootout of 1878. The library's plot of land has been used by a variety of business and by the City of Round Rock. The current library building, c. 1997, was designed by architect Ray Gill of the firm Ray Gill Architects, with a design that reflected the site's local history. The Library building was named for Robert G. and Helen Griffith, two residents who led in starting and maintaining the library. The library's land has had various uses. In 1885, a sash, door, and blind warehouse occupied the east half of the corner lot, but by 1902 the lot was empty. By 1925, when automobile use became widespread, a 30-car garage took over the corner. Round Rock, Texas
Round Rock is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, in Williamson County (with a small part in Travis County), which is a part of the Greater Austin metropolitan area. Its population is 119,468 as of the 2020 census. The city straddles the Balcones Escarpment, Texas State Historical Association a fault line in which the areas roughly east of Interstate 35 are flat and characterized by having black, fertile soils of the Blackland Prairie, and the west side of the Escarpment, which consists mostly of hilly, karst-like terrain with little topsoil and higher elevations and which is part of the Texas Hill Country. Located about north of downtown Austin, Round Rock shares a common border with Austin at Texas State Highway 45. In August 2008, ''Money'' named Round Rock as the seventh-best American small city in which to live. Round Rock was the only Texas city to make the Top 10.
