Round Mott, Texas
Round Mott or Round Mott Community is a ghost town in western Wharton County, in the U.S. state of Texas. The community was located northwest of El Campo on FM 1300. The settlement briefly had a post office in the 1880s. A school was in existence by 1905 and served the community until 1951. Only a private home, a cell phone tower and a disused church building remained at the site in 2015. Geography Round Mott is situated at the intersection of FM 1300 and County Road 393. This location is a distance of northwest of El Campo via FM 1300 and State Highway 71. At the Round Mott crossroads, there is a church with an adjacent home and barn. A cell phone tower is located a short way to the east. Within a radius from Round Mott there are only four additional homes. El Campo Independent School District
The El Campo Independent School District is a public school district based in El Campo, Texas, United States. The district serves El Campo as well as rural areas in central and south central Wharton County. In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency. Mark Pool was the superintendent until sometime in 2015. In January of that year, the district began searching for a new superintendent. By April the only finalist for the position was Kelly Waters, the ECISD assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, and a member of the El Campo High School Class of 1984. Farm To Market Road 1160
Farm to Market Road 1160 (FM 1160) is a farm-to-market road in Wharton County in the U.S. state of Texas. The highway starts at State Highway Loop 523 (Loop 523) in Louise, intersects with Future Interstate 69/U.S. Route 59 outside Louise and continues in a northerly direction for most of its length. Before its end at State Highway 71 (SH 71) near New Taiton, the highway turns directly to the east. Route description FM 1160 starts at Loop 523 in Louise and heads north. Loop 523 is also called North Street. The road that extends to the southeast across the Union Pacific Railroad is named Wharton Street. After going north for through a residential area, FM 1160 crosses Future I-69/US 59 by an overpass. State Highway 71 (SH 71) is a Texas state highway that runs . The northern terminus is at US 87 and US 377 south of Brady and its southern terminus is at SH 35 near Blessing. This highway is designated the "10th Mountain Division Highway" from SH 95 to Interstate 35. History SH 71 was originally designated on August 21, 1923 from Austin to Columbus, replacing SH 3D and the western half of SH 3A. On June 8, 1925, SH 71 was extended to Midfield, though this was not effective until 1926. On March 19, 1928, it extended south to its current end. On June 21, 1938, SH 71 Spur was designated in Columbus.
