''Rough and Rowdy Ways'' is the 39th studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on June 19, 2020, through Columbia Records. It is Dylan's first album of original songs since his 2012 album ''Tempest'', following three releases, one a triple album, that covered traditional pop standards. The album was recorded at Sound City Studios in January and February 2020. The session musicians included all of the then-current members of Dylan's Never Ending Tour band alongside other musicians, such as Blake Mills and Fiona Apple. The album's sound was described by critics as Americana, folk, blues, and rhythm and blues. Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. Often regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture during a career spanning more than 60 years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" (1963) and " The Times They Are a-Changin' (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. Blake Mills (born September 21, 1986) is an American songwriter, guitarist, producer, and composer based in California. Biography Blake Mills was born in Santa Monica, California, United States, and grew up in Malibu, where he attended Malibu High School with Taylor Goldsmith. Mills and Goldsmith began their musical careers in a band they co-founded called Simon Dawes. Simon Dawes released its debut EP ''What No One Hears'' in 2005, and its first LP ''Carnivore'' in September 2006 via Record Collection. The Beacon Theatre is an entertainment venue at 2124 Broadway, adjacent to the Hotel Beacon, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. Tony Garnier (born May 10, 1955) is an American bassist, best known as an accompanist to Bob Dylan, with whom he has played since 1989. Early life Garnier was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on May 10, 1955. His grandfather, D'Jalma "Papa" Garnier, was a New Orleans jazz trumpeter and bandleader. Garnier's brother, also named D'Jalma, is a Creole fiddler. Garnier grew up in southern California. Career Garnier joined Dylan's Never Ending Tour band in 1989, and has sometimes been characterized as his musical director. McBride & the Ride is an American country music band consisting of Terry McBride (lead vocals, bass guitar), Ray Herndon (background vocals, guitars), and Billy Thomas (background vocals, drums). Matthew Chamberlain (born April 17, 1967) is an American session musician, drummer, producer and songwriter. Biography Life and career Chamberlain was born in San Pedro, California on April 17, 1967. He began learning how to play the drums at 15 years old, taking lessons with David Garibaldi from the band Tower of Power. He attended North Texas State's music program, leaving after less than a year. After leaving college, he moved to Dallas, Texas and played with multiple bands, often taking on small gigs. While in Texas, he was hired to play drums on tour with Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, and he recorded two records with the band before they broke up in 1991. Never Ending Tour 2019
The Never Ending Tour is the popular name for Bob Dylan's endless touring schedule since June 7, 1988. Background The first concert of 2019 was announced on November 27, 2018. Taking place in Hyde Park, London, Dylan and his band appeared alongside Neil Young and Promise of the Real. The event was originally scheduled to be part of the British Summer Time concert series. However Barclaycard's sponsorship of the event was removed at Young's insistence. Also on November 27, concerts in Finland, Sweden and Norway were confirmed by local news outlets. On April 16 in Vienna Dylan spoke to the audience for the first time in over three years. He aborted "Blowin' in the Wind" before addressing an audience member taking photographs.
