Rotvoll
Rotvoll is a neighbourhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Charlottenlund. It is located next to the Trondheim fjord between Leangen to the west and Grillstad to the east. The area is known for its rich bird life and has several times been proposed for protection. When a Statoil research and development facility was built there in the 1991, it resulted in civil disobedience at the climax of the Rotvoll controversy. The area has some suburban housing and is otherwise dominated by the Statoil research facility and Sør-Trøndelag University College campus for teacher training and Norwegian Sign Language interpreters. Rotvoll is served by city buses and by Rotvoll Station on Trønderbanen, the commuter train in Trøndelag. Rotvoll Controversy
The Rotvoll controversy refers to a political controversy in Norway in 1991 concerning the construction of a research and development (R&D) facility for Statoil at Rotvoll outside Trondheim. Key events The background for the controversy was that Statoil wanted to establish a new research and development centre in Trondheim, and had acquired land at the recreational area Rotvoll to the east of Trondheim. This area was an agriculture boundary right outside Trondheim, and was connected to Leangenbukta (English: Leangen Bay), an important bird life area. There were some old farms at Rotvoll as well, considered to be worth protecting. There was a lot of secrecy around the formal approval of the construction at Rotvoll, and the approval process did not, like the law required, undertake a study of the consequences for the environment. Rotvoll is a railway station on the Nordland Line at Rotvoll in Trondheim, Norway. It is served by the Trøndelag Commuter Rail operated by SJ Norge with hourly service to Trondheim and Steinkjer. Sør-Trøndelag University College (Norwegian: Høgskolen i Sør-Trøndelag) or HiST was a Norwegian university college located in Trondheim. The school offered higher education within nursing, teaching, economics, food science, engineering and information technology. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. Norwegian Sign Language
Norwegian Sign Language, or NSL (Norwegian or , ''NTS''), is the principal sign language in Norway. There are many sign language organizations and some television programs broadcast in NSL in Norway. The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation airs (News in Sign Language) daily and (Time for Signs) weekly. NSL is an official language as of 1 January 2022. Relation to Malagasy Sign Language The language is sometimes reported to be similar, or even identical to the sign language used in Madagascar.
