Rothschild Park
Rothschild Park (german: Rothschildpark) is a public park in Frankfurt, Germany. It is located within the central business district known as the Bankenviertel, to the north of the Opera Tower, adjacent to the Opera Square. The park is named for the Rothschild family, a banking family originating in Frankfurt. The history of the park dates back to 1810, when Amschel Mayer Rothschild bought a country house with a plot of land in the area. From 1830 the house was extended to a ''Palais'', a stately home, by the Rothschild family. From 1832 the surrounding property was developed as a park in the style of an English landscape garden. Opernturm
OpernTurm (Opera Tower) is a 43-storey skyscraper in the Westend-Süd district of Frankfurt, Germany. The property is situated opposite Alte Oper on the corner of Bockenheimer Landstraße and Bockenheimer Anlage. The building was designed by Christoph Mäckler. The project developer was Tishman Speyer, a US firm that previously built the Sony Center in Berlin and the Messeturm in Frankfurt. Design The Opernturm consists of a 42-storey, tower, a 7-storey, podium building facing towards Alte Oper. Access is through an high lobby. The yellow-beige stone cladding of the facades was designed to fit in with the existing buildings surrounding Opernplatz. The Opernplatz (Opera Square) is a central city square in Frankfurt, Germany, located in the district of Innenstadt (Inner City) and within the central business district known as the Bankenviertel (Banking District). The Rothschild family ( , ) is a wealthy Ashkenazi Jewish family originally from Frankfurt that rose to prominence with Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744–1812), a court factor to the German Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel in the Free City of Frankfurt, Holy Roman Empire, who established his banking business in the 1760s. Baron Amschel Mayer von Rothschild (12 June 1773 – 6 December 1855) was a German Jewish banker of the wealthy Rothschild family. He was the second child and eldest son of Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744–1812), the founder of the dynasty, and Gutlé Rothschild née Schnapper (1753–1849). On the death of Mayer Amschel in 1812, Amschel Mayer succeeded as head of the bank at Frankfurt am Main, his brothers having been dispatched to set up banking houses in Paris, London, Naples, and Vienna. Baron Wilhelm Carl von Rothschild (Hebrew: שמעון וואלף רוטשילט; May 16, 1828 – 25 January 1901) was a banker and financier of the Frankfurt House of Rothschild. Life and career Wilhelm Carl von Rothschild was the son of Baron Carl Mayer von Rothschild of Naples and Adelheid Hertz. He was known by some as "The Tzadik of the Rothschild House." He strongly supported many Orthodox Jewish institutions and studied in Yeshivas. He married his cousin Mathilde Hannah von Rothschild, the second oldest daughter of Anselm von Rothschild, a chief of the Vienna House of Rothschilds in 1849.
