Rotherham County
Rotherham County F.C. was an English football club based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. They spent a number of years in the English Football League before merging with rivals Rotherham Town in 1925 to form Rotherham United. History The club was founded in 1877, as Thornhill Football Club (later 'Thornhill United'), before, in 1905, changing to Rotherham County. It joined the Midland League in 1903, and stayed in that competition until it was abandoned for World War I. They won the Midland League title for four consecutive seasons, from 1911–12 to 1914–15 inclusive. After the War, they were elected to the Football League when the league expanded from 40 clubs to 44 in 1919. In 1925 they merged with local rivals Rotherham Town to form Rotherham United who are still members of the Football League. Millmoor
The Millmoor Ground, commonly known as Millmoor, is a football stadium in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It was the home ground of Rotherham County F.C. between 1907 and 1925 and then its successor Rotherham United F.C. until 2008. The stadium has had no professional tenant since, but has been in use again for local youth football since 2016. It has been described as 'the spiritual home' of Rotherham United. History The stadium was in use during the 1890s, with Rotherham Church Institute using the ground in the Sheffield Association League. and presently has a capacity of around 8,300. During the 1990s, relocation to a new all-seater stadium in Rotherham was considered, but the original preferred site for a new stadium had become unavailable by the time Rotherham won promotion to Division One in 2001, and so the club were faced with the need to develop a new all-seater stadium at Millmoor or elsewhere. Tommy Hakin
John Thomas Hakin (17 October 1882 – 1950) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Grimsby Town between 1906 and 1908. An inside left, he joined Grimsby from Midland League club Mexborough Town. Billy Easton
William Easton (10 March 1904 – c.1982) was an English footballer who played at inside-forward for Blyth Spartans, Rotherham County, Montreal Maroons (Canada), Everton, Swansea Town, Port Vale, Aldershot, and Workington. Career Easton played for Eston, Blyth Spartans (in two spells), West Stanley (on trial), Rotherham County, Canadian side Montreal Maroons, Everton and Swansea Town, before joining Port Vale in May 1931. George William Cook (27 February 1895 – 31 December 1980), sometimes known as Billy Cook, was an English professional footballer, best remembered for his spells as an inside left in the Football League with Huddersfield Town and Aston Villa. Frank Brown (footballer, Born 1890)
Frank Brown (born 1890) was an English football player and manager. Brown began his football career with Barnsley in 1910, moving to Rotherham County in 1914 and then to Huddersfield Town in 1915. In August 1919 he joined Blackpool, but struggled to break into the first team and left to join Exeter City in May 1921. He stayed only one season at St. James' Park, moving to Pontypridd in June 1922 before returning to Devon and joining Torquay United in 1923. He retired prior to Torquay achieving league status, but became the club's trainer and with Percy Mackrill in charge saw United elected to the Football League. In May 1932 he was appointed manager of Torquay United, and during his six seasons at the helm at Plainmoor, Torquay finished 10th 3 times, and 20th (out of 22 teams) 3 times. Jimmy Broadhead
James Edward Broadhead (25 August 1894 – 4 May 1955) was an English professional footballer who played as a defender. Born in Rotherham, he started his career with Rotherham County in 1913, and then joined Norwich City in 1919. He later had spells with South Shields and Scunthorpe & Lindsey United before moving to Nelson, where he made 67 Football League appearances in two spells with the club. He played in non-League football towards the end of his career, before retiring to become a coach in the early 1930s. Biography James Broadhead was born in Rotherham, West Riding of Yorkshire, on 25 August.
