Roswell High School (RHS) is a public senior high school in Roswell, New Mexico. It is a part of the Roswell Independent School District. Established in 1913, it is the oldest public high school in the city. The colors of RHS are: Dark Crimson Red, White and Black, their mascot is a Coyote. Roswell, New Mexico
Roswell () is a city in, and the County seat, seat of, Chaves County, New Mexico, Chaves County in the U.S. state of New Mexico. Chaves County forms the entirety of the List of micropolitan areas in New Mexico, Roswell micropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census it had a population of 48,422, making it the fifth-largest city in New Mexico. It is home of the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI), founded in 1891. The city is also the location of an Eastern New Mexico University campus. Paul Smith (defensive End)
Paul Edward Smith (August 13, 1945 – March 14, 2000) was an American professional football player who was a defensive end in the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL), primarily with the Denver Broncos. He played college football for the New Mexico Lobos. Early life Smith was born in Ada, Oklahoma but raised in Roswell, New Mexico. He played college football for the New Mexico Lobos. Pro football career Smith was selected in the 1968 NFL/AFL draft by the Denver Broncos of the Denver Broncos. and later played in the NFL for the Broncos and Washington Redskins. Cliff Pirtle
Cliff R. Pirtle is an American lawmaker and a Republican member of the New Mexico Senate representing District 32 since January 15, 2013. Controversy On March 12, 2023, Santa Fe, NM, police officers were dispatched to home that Cliff R. Pirtle rented in Santa Fe during the 2023 legislative session. Officers responded to a domestic dispute between Cliff and his wife Aysia Pirtle. The disturbance between them began when Ms. Pirtle caught her husband in bed with a New Mexico Senate employee. DonTrell Moore
DonTrell Jamar Moore (born September 25, 1982) is a former American football running back who last played for the New Mexico Stars of the Indoor Football League (IFL). An undrafted free agent in the 2006 NFL Draft, Moore eventually signed with the New York Jets in 2006. Moore played college football at the University of New Mexico. Moore was featured in the documentary "Two Days in April", an in depth look into player preparation for the NFL draft. Before his successful college career, Moore went to Roswell High School, where he was coached by Coach Jack Cisco and won the state championship in 2000. Glenn Dennis
Glenn Dennis (March 24, 1925 – April 28, 2015) was a founder of the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, New Mexico. Early life In 1940, at age 15, Dennis began working as a part-time assistant at the Ballard Funeral Home, while attending Roswell High School. After graduating high school, Dennis was excused from wartime military service due to poor hearing. Dennis commenced an apprenticeship as an embalmer at Ballard Funeral Home in 1944. He graduated from the ''San Francisco College of Mortuary Science'' on December 22, 1946. He was then put in charge of all facets of the military contract Ballard Funeral Home had with Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF), which was later renamed to Walker Air Force Base in 1948. Thomas Jefferson Brookshier (December 16, 1931 – January 29, 2010) was an American professional football player, coach, and sportscaster. He was a starting defensive back for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons, from 1953 to 1961. He later paired with Pat Summerall on the primary broadcast team for NFL games on CBS during the 1970s.
