Rossett ( cy, Yr Orsedd ) is a village, community and electoral ward in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. Rossett is served by the A483 road. At the time of the 2001 census, Rossett community (including Rossett itself and the villages of Burton, Burton Green, Trevalyn and Lavister) had a total population of 3,336 people, falling to 3,231 in the 2011 census. Geography Rossett is geographically located near to the Welsh and English border cities of Wrexham ( distant) and Chester ( away). The village sits close to the Wales–England border and is built on the banks of the River Alyn which is a tributary of the River Dee downstream. Rossett's neighbouring villages are Marford, Burton and Holt and Pulford in England. Community Christ Church, completed in 1892 replacing an earlier church on the same site, is of Gothic Revival design. The village's war memorial is sited in its churchyard. Presbyterian Chapel, Rossett
The Presbyterian Chapel, Rossett, is in Station Road, Rossett, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It continues to be active as a Presbyterian Church of Wales, Welsh Presbyterian church. The church was built in 1875 to a design by the Chester architect John Douglas (English architect), John Douglas. It has lancet windows and a Flèche (architecture), flèche which is tiered at its base. At the end of the gable is a timber porch. Christ Church, Rossett
Christ Church is a church of the Church in Wales, situated in Rossett, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is designated by Cadw as a Grade II listed building. Christ Church is an active Anglican church in the Alyn Mission Area, the archdeaconry of Wrexham and the diocese of St Asaph. History The first church on the site was built in 1841. The present church had been designed in 1886 by the Chester architects Douglas and Fordham, but it was not built until 1891–92. The foundation stone was laid by Mrs Townshend Mainwaring. It cost over £3,677 (), the major donor was John Townsend of Trevalyn House, and £2,861 () was raised by public subscription. A clock was added in 1902. Burton, Wrexham
Burton ( cy, Bwrton) is a village in the community of Rossett in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The hamlet of Burton Green is a separate settlement and is located around a mile northwest from Burton. The village is predominantly rural in nature and comprises a mixture of working farms and residential properties. Burton is 2 miles from the larger village of Rossett, where there is a variety of shops, a primary school, a secondary school, a post office, chemist, a Catholic church, off-licence, and plenty of good pubs and eateries including the award-winning Welsh restaurant 'The Machine House'. Cook's Bridge, Rossett
Cook's Bridge is a Grade II listed bridge crossing the River Alyn near Trevalyn, Rossett in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is located to the south-east of Cooksbridge Farm, and roughly a third of a mile or half a kilometre from Rossett Road (B5102). The bridge dates to the early 19th century and contains a single-span of ashlar stone. The segmental arch has voussoirs and a keystone projecting into string course. The bridge's parapets are swept widely either end to allow for waiting traffic, as the bridge is a single-laned bridge. A long-distance waymarked footpath lies to its immediate north along the river. Trevalyn Hall
Trevalyn Hall in Rossett, a Grade II* listed building, is an Elizabethan manor house near Wrexham in Wales. It was built by John Trevor in 1576. The Trevor family of Trevalyn were one of the leading families in East Denbighshire by about 1600 with numerous estates in both Flintshire and Denbighshire. The Plas Teg estate in Hope, Flintshire was also acquired by the family when it was purchased by Sir John Trevor I (1563–1630) and it was he who built the present Plas Teg house in 1610. The Hall is constructed from brick with stone dressings on a stone plinth of five exposed courses. There are five bays with the end wings and central entrance bay projecting to the south-east on a H-plan. Wrexham ( ; cy, Wrecsam; ) is a city and the administrative centre of Wrexham County Borough in Wales. It is located between the Welsh mountains and the lower Dee Valley, near the border with Cheshire in England. The A483, officially described as the Swansea to Manchester Trunk Road, although now ending in Chester, is a major road in the United Kingdom. It runs from Swansea in Wales to Chester in England via Llandovery, Llandrindod Wells, Oswestry and Wrexham, a distance of around .
