Ross Wilson (ice Hockey)
Ross Ingram "Lefty" Wilson (October 15, 1919 – November 4, 2002) was a Canadian ice hockey player. He served as an emergency goaltender on three separate occasions between 1953 and 1957, playing one game with each of the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Boston Bruins. Biography Wilson was a trainer for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League from 1950–1982. He won four Stanley Cup championships with Detroit in 1950, 1952, 1954 and 1955. He was one of the early pioneers of the goaltender's protective face mask, making the iconic mask that Terry Sawchuck wore, among the many others that he made for pro and top amateur goaltenders. Wilson, who played goal in the Junior A, AHL and senior leagues, served as an emergency back-up goaltender for the Red Wings as well as for visiting teams, as was customary with many NHL trainers in the days before regular back-up goaltenders were carried on NHL team rosters. At the 1970 British Commonwealth Games, the athletics (sport), athletics events were held at the Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland. A total of 36 events were contested, of which 23 by male and 13 by female athletes. This was the first athletics competition at the British Commonwealth Games to feature events in metric units, rather than imperial units. Ross Wilson (born 5 June 1995) is a British paralympic table tennis player. He competed at the 2011 European Championships in Split, Croatia, winning silver and gained another silver medal at the 2011 Bayreuth Open, Bayreuth, Germany, competing in the men's singles class 8. He has also been a two-time national doubles champion in non-disabled competition. In the 2012 Summer Paralympics he won a bronze medal in the men's team class 6–8. Ross Wilson (born December 10, 1981) is a Canadian para-cyclist. Early life Wilson was born on December 10, 1981 in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Career In his 20s, Wilson began noticing his gait changing and he would constantly be rolling his ankles. He was eventually diagnosed with Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease, a neurological condition that affected his nerves and muscles. After losing over 100 pounds, he bought himself a bike to stay active and continue to lose weight. He subsequently joined the Juventus Cycling Club in 2012 where he met coach Cam Jennings. By 2014, he joined the Argyll Velodrome Association and raced in the 2014 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships. While training for the 2015 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships, Wilson was struck by a car backing out of a parking spot. Ross Andrew Wilson (born 18 November 1947) is an Australian singer-songwriter, musician and producer. He is the co-founder and frontman of the long-standing rock groups Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock, as well as a number of other former bands, in addition to performing solo. He has produced records for bands such as Skyhooks and Jo Jo Zep & the Falcons, as well as for those of his own bands. He appeared as a judge on celebrity singing TV series '' It Takes Two'' from 2005. Wilson was individually inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 1989 and again as a member of Daddy Cool in 2006. Ross L. Wilson (born August 22, 1955) is an American diplomat who was the chargé d'affaires of the United States to Afghanistan from 2020 to 2021.
