Ross Township is one of eleven townships in Lake County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 47,890 and it contained 19,951 housing units. History Ross Township was established in 1848. It was named for William Ross, a pioneer settler. Geography According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of , of which (or 99.92%) is land and (or 0.08%) is water. The township includes the town of Merrillville, as well as portions of the city of Hobart. Andrean High School is a co-educational, college preparatory secondary school in Merrillville, Indiana. It is located in the Diocese of Gary. The school was founded in 1959, and named for St. Andrew, the patron saint of the first bishop of the diocese of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gary, Andrew Grutka. Through most of its history, Andrean has been staffed in part by members of the Basilian Fathers and the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius. Hobart is a city in Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 29,890 at the 2020 census, up from 29,059 in 2010. It has been historically primarily residential, though recent annexation has added a notable retail corridor to the city. History Hobart was platted in 1849.
