Ross Owen
Ross Owen (born 6 January 1994) is a Welsh international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Owen won the Welsh National Bowls Championships fours in 2017 and the following year the triples, both National titles were won when bowling for Harlequins BC. He was the National Indoor Pairs Champion in 2014. In 2015 he won the fours bronze medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. Owen bowls for Harlequins (outdoors) and Cynon Valley (indoors) and was selected for the Welsh team for the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Avonhead, Christchurch, New Zealand and the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. In 2019, he won the fours bronze medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships and in 2020, he was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mountain Ash, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Mountain Ash ( cy, Aberpennar) is a town and former community in the Cynon Valley, within the County Borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, with a population of 11,230 at the 2011 Census, estimated in 2019 at 11,339. It includes the districts and villages of Cefnpennar, Cwmpennar, Caegarw, Darranlas, Fernhill, Glenboi and Newtown, all within the historic county boundaries of Glamorgan. 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship
The 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was to be the 14th edition of the World Championships to be held at the Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club and Club Helensvale on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. There were to be eight events that determined the 2021 world champions, the men's singles, doubles, triples and fours and the women's singles, doubles, triples and fours and in addition there are two overall team winners who receive the Leonard and Taylor trophies respectively. It was originally scheduled from 23 May to 7 June 2020 but the event was officially cancelled on 9 March 2021. Postponement The event followed suit of other sporting events around the world in early 2020, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak wreaking havoc across the sporting industry.
