Ross Duncan
John Ross Frederick Duncan (born 25 March 1944) is a former Australian cricketer who played one Test in 1971. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, Duncan was brought into the Test team for the Fifth Test at Melbourne which replaced the Victoria second tour match against the MCC in the 1970–71 Ashes series. Brought in as a fast-medium seam bowler to replace the injured Graham McKenzie, Duncan made only 3 with the bat and took 0/30 with the ball in the first innings, but did not bat or bowl in the second and took no catches. He was dropped for the Sixth Test in favour of Dennis Lillee. He also represented Australia in 1971–72 in one match against Gary Sobers' Rest of the World XI, again without success. He played for Queensland from 1964–65 to 1970–71, usually opening the bowling with Peter Allan, then for Victoria in 1971–72 and 1972–73. Herston is an inner suburb of the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Herston had a population of 2,215 people. Geography Herston is located by car north of the Brisbane GPO. The area of Herston includes the Herston Health Precinct on its eastern side. This includes the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and the ''Herston Quarter'' which is a development site to replace the former Royal Children's Hospital which moved to another site in 2014. Below is a chronological list of cricketers to have represented Victoria at first-class level. Peter John Allan (born 31 December 1935) is a former Australian cricketer who played in one Test in 1965. Life and career A tall right-arm fast-medium bowler, Allan made his first-class debut for Queensland in the 1959-60 season, but after that he spent some time working in Victoria, and did not establish himself in cricket until he returned to Queensland in 1963.''The Oxford Companion to Australian Cricket'', Oxford, Melbourne, 1996, pp. 13–14. A Rest of the World cricket team captained by Gary Sobers toured Australia in the 1971–72 season. The World XI played 16 matches between early November 1971 and early February 1972. Gary Sobers
Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers, (born 28 July 1936), also known as Sir Gary or Sir Garry Sobers, is a former cricketer who played for the West Indies between 1954 and 1974. A highly skilled bowler, an aggressive batsman and an excellent fielder, he is widely considered to be cricket's greatest ever all-rounder and one of the greatest cricketers of all time. Born in Bridgetown, Barbados, Sobers made his first-class debut for the Barbados cricket team at the age of 16 in 1953, and his Test debut for the West Indies the following year. Originally playing mainly as a bowler, he was soon promoted up the batting order. Against Pakistan in 1958, Sobers scored his maiden Test century, progressing to 365 not out and establishing a new record for the highest individual score in an innings. Graham McKenzie
Graham Douglas McKenzie (born 24 June 1941) – commonly known as "Garth", after the comic strip hero – is an Australian cricketer who played for Western Australia (1960–74), Leicestershire (1969–75), Transvaal (1979–80) and Australia (1961–71) and was a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1965. He succeeded Alan Davidson as Australia's premier fast bowler and was in turn succeeded by Dennis Lillee, playing with both at either end of his career. McKenzie was particularly noted for his muscular physique (hence his nickname) and ability to take wickets on good batting tracks. His father Eric McKenzie and uncle Douglas McKenzie played cricket for Western Australia and Garth was chosen for the Ashes tour of England in 1961 aged only 20.
