Rositsa (river)
The Rositsa ( bg, Росица ) is a river in central northern Bulgaria, the most important tributary (a left one) of the Yantra. It is long and has a drainage basin of . The Yantra ( bg, Янтра ) is a river in northern Bulgaria, a right tributary of the Danube. It is long (the third longest Bulgarian tributary of the Danube, after Iskar and Osam), and has a watershed of . Its average discharge at the mouth is . The Yantra has its source from the northern foot of Hadzhi Dimitar Peak in Central Stara Planina, at . In its upper course, it is alternatively known as ''Etar'' (Етър), its older name. The river flows into the Danube close to Svishtov. The river characteristically forms a number of gorges as it flows northward through the foothills of Stara Planina. A drainage basin is an area of land where all flowing surface water converges to a single point, such as a river mouth, or flows into another body of water, such as a lake or ocean. Balkan Mountains
The Balkan mountain range (, , known locally also as Stara planina) is a mountain range in the eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe. Shipka Pass
Shipka Pass ( bg, Шипченски проход, ) (el. 1150 m./3820 ft.) is a scenic mountain pass through the Balkan Mountains in Bulgaria. It marks the border between Stara Zagora province and Gabrovo province. The pass connects the towns of Gabrovo and Kazanlak. The pass is part of the Bulgarka Nature Park. The pass is 13 km by road north of the small town of Shipka. It is crossed by a national road I-5, which runs between Ruse, on the Danube River, and Makaza border crossing to Greece. A road also leads from the pass to the summit of Buzludzha, 12 km to the east. Botev Peak
Botev Peak ( bg, (връх) Ботев ) is, at above sea level, the highest peak of the Balkan Mountains. It is located close to the geographic centre of Bulgaria, and is part of the Central Balkan National Park. Until 1950, when it was renamed in honour of Bulgarian poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev, the peak was called ''Yumrukchal'' (Юмрукчал, from Ottoman Turkish ''Yumrukçal'', 'a fist-like peak'). A weather station and a radio tower (opened on 10 July 1966) that covers 65% of the country are located on Botev Peak. The average temperature is in January and in July.
