Classical Architecture
Classical architecture usually denotes architecture which is more or less consciously derived from the principles of Greek and Roman architecture of classical antiquity, or sometimes even more specifically, from the works of the Roman architect Vitruvius. Different styles of classical architecture have arguably existed since the Carolingian Renaissance, and prominently since the Italian Renaissance. Although classical styles of architecture can vary greatly, they can in general all be said to draw on a common "vocabulary" of decorative and constructive elements. In much of the Western world, different classical architectural styles have dominated the history of architecture from the Renaissance until the second world war, though it continues to inform many architects to this day. Johann Michael Knapp
Johann Michael Knapp (10 March 1791, Stuttgart - 22 October 1861, Stuttgart) was a German court architect in Württemburg. Biography His father, also named Johann Michael, originally came from Ditzingen and was a Master baker. His mother, Elisabetha, née Bauder was from Waiblingen. From 1808 to 1809, he attended the Polytechnic School in Karlsruhe ( now part of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). After 1815, he pursued his artistic studies with Johann Heinrich von Dannecker. This was followed by an apprenticeship in Milan (1818). He lived in Rome from 1819 to 1840. There, he was a member of the local , also known as the "Ponte Molle Society". He continued to design projects for his hometown. In 1820, together with Giovanni Salucci, he drew the construction plans for the Württemberg Mausoleum; on commission from Queen Katharina Pawlowna. A trip to Naples in 1821 took him to Pompeii. Joseph Anton Von Gegenbaur
Josef Anton von Gegenbaur (6 March 1800, in Wangen, Württemberg – 31 January 1876, in Rome) was an accomplished German historical and portrait painter. Biography He studied first at the Royal Academy in Munich under Robert von Langer, remaining in that city from 1815 to 1823. Among his productions there were two idyllic works, a "Saint Sebastian" and a "Madonna and Child", altar-piece for his native town. In 1823 the painter went to Rome, where he remained until 1826, studying especially the works of Raphael. He became successful as a fresco painter, and, on his return to Württemberg, the king made him court painter and commissioned him to decorate the Royal Villa of Schloss Rosenstein. In 1829 Gegenbaur went again to Rome and worked on frescoes. During later residence in Stuttgart he was employed from 1836 to 1854 in decorating the royal Palace with sixteen scenes in fresco from the history of Württemberg. Johann Friedrich Dieterich (21 September 1787, Biberach an der Riß - 17 January 1846, Stuttgart) was a German painter and art professor. Biography He was born into the family of a poor manual laborer. His artistic talent first revealed itself in the paintings he made on the fruit sacks his father carried. He was eventually able to reach Stuttgart, where received his training from the court painter and gallery director, , and the theatrical painter, , who became his sponsor. Deciding that he wanted to do more than paint stages, he went to Munich in 1811, followed by a short trip to Italy. He brought back some works he made there, to demonstrate his talent, and was able to receive a grant to return to Italy in 1818. Theodor "Turl" Wagner (6 August 1927 – 21 January 2020) was an Austrian footballer who played as a striker. International career He made his debut for Austria in a November 1946 friendly match against Switzerland and was a participant at the 1954 FIFA World Cup, where he scored a hat-trick in the 7–5 quarterfinal win over Switzerland. He earned 46 caps, scoring 22 goals. His last international was a March 1957 friendly match against West Germany. In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Helios (; grc, , , Sun; Homeric Greek: ) is the god and personification of the Sun (Solar deity). His name is also Latinized as Helius, and he is often given the epithets Hyperion ("the one above") and Phaethon ("the shining").
