Rosemont (horse)
Rosemont (foaled 1932 in Virginia) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse best known for his win in the 1937 Santa Anita Handicap, when he defeated the popular horse Seabiscuit. This race was featured in a scene in the motion picture ''Seabiscuit'' (2003). Rosemont was bred by William du Pont, Jr. Du Pont purchased his dam while in foal in a dispersal sale, and got Rosemont when she gave birth. He was trained by Richard E. Handlen and raced under du Pont's Foxcatcher Farm stables. Among his other wins, Rosemont defeated the Triple Crown winner Omaha in winning the 1935 Withers Stakes at Belmont Park before a crowd of 25,000. Rosemont Historic District (Alexandria, Virginia)
The Rosemont Historic District is a historic district in Alexandria, in the U.S. state of Virginia. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. Rosemont is a lushly planted residential area occupying some 84 acres in northwest Alexandria, located adjacent to Alexandria Union Station (ALX). It was developed between 1908 and 1914 by a group of Washington, Alexandria, and Philadelphia investors. The houses were built near the trolley line, allowing residents to work in Washington and live in a suburban neighborhood. Rosemont's more than 450 residences are a prime example of the era's middle-class architecture. House styles range from the American Craftsman, American Foursquare and Arts and Crafts movement to the sedate composition of Colonial Revival homes. Rose Mont (Gallatin, Tennessee)
Rose Mont is a Greek Revival style house built in Gallatin, Sumner County, Tennessee, United States. It was built by Judge Josephus Conn Guild for his family, and completed in 1842. Once the site of the area's largest thoroughbred horse farm with , it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Rosemont. In 1993 the property was purchased by the City of Gallatin and the Rose Mont Restoration Foundation. The house is open to the public. History Rose Mont was built by Judge Josephus Conn Guild (1802–1883) for his family. It was begun in 1836 and completed in 1842. All of the materials for its construction were obtained on the property. Rose Mont's architecture is a blend of Greek Revival and Palladian styles. These architectural styles not commonly seen in Middle Tennessee homes of the era, which is typified by Federal or Georgian-style houses with a front entry hall containing a staircase to the second floor. Rosemont Plantation
Rosemont Plantation is a historic archaeological site located near Waterloo, Laurens County, South Carolina. Development of the Piedmont plantation complex was begun sometime between 1750 and 1790. It reached its zenith as a cotton plantation during the second quarter of the 19th century, when it was occupied by the Cunningham family, whose descendants retained control. The main house of Rosemont burned in 1930. The Cunninghams sold it after that. The site is largely wooded, but there are architectural remains of seven structures and some formal gardens. At one time there were at least 17 buildings and activity areas, including vegetable and flower gardens, a race track, separate living quarters for the adult Cunningham daughter in the 19th century, and other facilities. Rosemont station is a SEPTA Regional Rail station in Rosemont, Pennsylvania. It is located at Airdale Road and Montrose Avenues and is served by most Paoli/Thorndale Line trains.
