Roselawn Cemetery
Roselawn Cemetery ( ga, Reilig Phlásóg na Rós) (also known as Roselawn) is a large cemetery and crematorium on the outskirts of Belfast in Northern Ireland. It opened in 1954. It is owned and operated by Belfast City Council. It is located on the Ballygowan Road. History Roselawn Cemetery was laid out in 1952 as a ‘lawn’ cemetery and the ground was formally consecrated in 1954. Roses ( traditional flowering shrubs, used extensively in cemeteries) were planted along the main driveway, giving the site its name. In 1961, the City of Belfast Crematorium, the first of its kind in Ireland, opened its doors, with the first cremation taking place in July 1961. Land has been added over the years, and the site has been landscaped with lakes to make it more appealing to visitors. The surface area has been estimated at a little less than 300 acres, which would make it the largest municipal cemetery in the United Kingdom. Kingston, Ontario
Kingston is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is located on the north-eastern end of Lake Ontario, at the beginning of the St. Lawrence River and at the mouth of the Cataraqui River (south end of the Rideau Canal). The city is midway between Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec. Kingston is also located nearby the Thousand Islands, a tourist region to the east, and the Prince Edward County tourist region to the west. Kingston is nicknamed the "Limestone City" because of the many heritage buildings constructed using local limestone. Roselawn (Altheimer, Arkansas)
Roselawn is a historic plantation house, located in rural Jefferson County, Arkansas, a short way south of Altheimer. The house, set among trees on the east side of Collier Lee Road, is a single-story rectangular wood-frame structure with projections to the front and rear. An ornately decorated bay projects from the east side topped by a gable with bargeboard decoration, and a porch extends along that facade to the south, supported by brick piers. The house is believed to have been built sometime between 1870 and 1888, and is one of the oldest surviving plantation houses in Jefferson County. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Roselawn is a mansion in Cartersville in the U.S. state of Georgia and is now a museum. Location Roselawn is located at 244 Cherokee Avenue, Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, United States. History In the 1860s, Nelson Gilreath, a local merchant, built a one-story house with an attic. By 1872, the attic was converted into bedrooms. In the 1880s, the house was purchased by Samuel Porter Jones, a Christian revivalist. Jones added two stories at the back of the house. By 1895, he added a third floor and a basement. After Jones died in 1906, his widow, Laura McElwain Jones, continued to reside there until the 1920s. In the 1930s, the house was purchased by Guy Parmenter and his wife, Marie Cole Bell Parmenter. The couple added an elevator and resided there until 1968. It was uninhabited for the next decade. The house was acquired by Bartow County in 1978. Roselawn, Indiana
Roselawn is a census-designated place (CDP) in Newton and Jasper counties in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 4,131 at the 2010 census. Roselawn is known within northwestern Indiana for the two nudist resorts which operate in this town: the Ponderosa Sun Club and Sun Aura. Sun Aura resort was previously known as Naked City, but closed in 1986 after its operator, Dick Drost, encountered significant legal troubles. The resort continued to operate under several different owners and was known as Sunspot resort prior to becoming Sun Aura. The clubs are long-standing fixtures of the community, dating to the 1930s. History Roselawn was laid out in 1882. The community's name is an amalgamation of the names of early merchants Orlando Rose and Lon Craig. A post office has been in operation at Roselawn since 1881.
