History The original plat of the town of Elizabeth was recorded on April 17, 1812. It was witnessed by Sheriff John Tipton. The land for the town was donated by Capt. Volinia Township is a civil township of Cass County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,112 at the 2010 census. When the township was organized in 1833, it was at first named Volhynia, after the province in Poland. Rose Hill Cemetery, located in Hagerstown, Maryland, is the oldest public cemetery in Washington County Maryland. The cemetery features over 102 acres of burial space and is the final resting place of over 43,000 individuals. The cemetery was established on land originally granted to the Wroe family by King George III in the 1700s. Dr. John A. Wroe and his wife purchased the land. Their home was on a hill called Wroe's Hill. In 1865, William T. Hamilton and a group of individuals established the Hagerstown Cemetery Association and in 1866 purchased land needed to establish the area's first public cemetery and chartered the cemetery as Rose Hill Cemetery of Hagerstown. Cain Township is one of eleven townships in Fountain County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,142 and it contained 488 housing units. History Cain Township was one of the first townships to be established in the county; it was established on July 24, 1826.
