Roscommon Senior Football Championship
The Roscommon Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in County Roscommon. The winners of the Roscommon Championship receive the Fahey Cup and qualify to represent their county in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship. The 2021 Championship was won by Padraig Pearses who defeated Clann na nGael by a score of 2-08 to 0-11. Roscommon representatives have gone on to win the Connacht title on thirteen occasions. Strokestown GAA
Strokestown Gaelic Athletic Association is a Gaelic football and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Strokestown, County Roscommon, Ireland. History The Strokestown club was founded on 13 October 1881, three years before the Gaelic Athletic Association itself. In 1889 the local landlord, a J. Walpole, was expelled, and the club refounded as ''Strokestown Brian Boru's''. Other clubs known as ''St Patrick's'' and ''Erin Go Breá'' were also founded. They were later unified under the St Patrick's name, and won eight county titles between 1912 and 1933. A ladies' team was founded in 1976. They did not win the county title again until 1992. They won it for a tenth time in 2002, advancing that year to the final of the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship where they were beaten by Crossmolina Deel Rovers. The 2017 Roscommon Senior Football Championship is the 117th edition of Roscommon GAA's premier Gaelic football tournament for senior graded clubs in County Roscommon, Ireland. The tournament consists of 12 teams, with the winner representing Roscommon in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a seeded group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. St. Brigid's were the defending champions after they defeated Pádraig Pearse's in the previous years final, and they successfully defended their title to claim a "2-in-a-row" of championships and their 16th overall when defeating Roscommon Gaels 3-13 to 3-7 in the final at Dr. Hyde Park. St Dominic's GAA Club (''Naomh Dominic'') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Knockcroghery, County Roscommon, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It draws its membership from the half parishes of Knockcroghery, St John's and Rahara. The current club was formed in 1973.
