Rosanna Tavares
Rosanna Tavares (born 7 November 1961 in Nanuque, Minas Gerais – died 9 October 2006 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil) was a Brazilian singer, percussionist and guitarist. She was known as the lead singer of Rosanna & Zélia, a duo which received much critical acclaim in much of mainland Europe. Early life Rosanna Tavares enjoyed singing and began participating in her first singing contests when she was as young as eight years old. In 1974, her family moved from Itaúna near the Bahian border, to Belo Horizonte, where they quickly came into contact with the wide-ranging music scene in the capital of Minas Gerais. It was there she was first introduced to Zélia Fonseca, with whom she performed alongside for 30 years. Career After discovered that the band's music had been very successful in Europe, Rosanna & Zélia began more extensive touring, with much time spent in Portugal. Nanuque
Nanuque is a municipality in the state of Minas Gerais, in the southeastern region of Brazil, belonging to Mucuri Valley and Region Nanuque. Katharina Franck (born July 28, 1963) is a German singer, songwriter, and musician. She first achieved fame as singer, songwriter, and guitarist of pop rock band the Rainbirds in the late 1980s. Besides her work with Rainbirds, she was also a member of the band Stein, and has released several solo albums. Ian Pooley (born Ian Pinnekamp in 1973) is a German record producer and DJ. While incorporating samples of various musical genres, Pooley's creations are usually classified as house or tech house with Brazilian influence. Biography Pooley's music career began in 1993. Fascinated by producers in Chicago and Detroit, he brought his first machines and immediately started writing house and techno music, which kickstarted a multi-decade-spanning career playing to hugely diverse audiences. In 1998, Pooley made his sole appearance on the prestigious BBC Radio One Essential Mix, which featured tracks by Slam, Jeff Mills and his own productions. Stefan Hantel, better known by his stage name Shantel (born 2 March 1968), is a German DJ and producer based in Frankfurt. He is known for his work with Romani brass orchestras, DJing and remixing traditional Balkan music with electronic beats. Background and early life Shantel is of Greek descent on his paternal side. His maternal grandparents were Ukrainian Jews from Chernivtsi. Career Shantel began his DJ career in Frankfurt, Germany, and was inspired by the audience reaction to Romani brass bands such as Fanfare Ciocărlia and trumpeter Boban Marković to infuse electronically tweaked Balkan Romani music into his DJ set. Howard Levy
Howard Levy (born July 31, 1951) is an American multi-instrumentalist. A keyboardist and virtuoso harmonica player, Levy "has been realistically presented as one of the most important and radical harmonica innovators of the twentieth century." In 1988, Levy was a founding member of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, with whom he won a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for the song "The Sinister Minister". He also won a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition in 2012 for "Life in Eleven", a song written with Béla Fleck for the Flecktones' album ''Rocket Science'' (2011).
