Rosalind is a village located in the prairies of central Alberta, Canada. It is located on Highway 854, approximately southeast of Edmonton and southeast of Camrose, the closest major trading centre. The name Rosalind was first used in 1905 and is likely an amalgamation of the nearby school districts Montrose and East Lynne. Rosalind has a number of small businesses, an elementary school and a junior high school. The village provides various municipal services to its residents including fire protection. Donalda, Alberta
Donalda is a village in central Alberta, Canada that is east of Ponoka. It was founded in 1911 and takes its name from Donalda Crossway, a niece of Sir Donald Mann, a Canadian Northern Railway official. It is home to the "World's Largest Oil Lamp", standing at high, the structure is one of the Giants of the Prairies. Strome, Alberta
Strome is a hamlet in east-central Alberta, Canada, within Flagstaff County. It is located on Highway 13, approximately east of the City of Camrose. The hamlet was originally incorporated as a village on February 3, 1910. It dissolved to become a hamlet under the jurisdiction of Flagstaff County on January 1, 2016. Strome's name is believed to come from Stromeferry in Ross & Cromarty, Scotland. History Strome began developing as a farming community in 1905. Max Knoll opened the first post office, under the name of Knollton, and set up the first general store. The name of the post office was changed to Strome on July 1, 1906. A hotel, a hardware store, and a church followed. Strome incorporated as a village on February 3, 1910. Bawlf, Alberta
Bawlf is a village in Alberta, Canada located east-southeast of Camrose. Founded in 1905 as a stop on the Canadian Pacific Railway line, it was named after Nicholas Bawlf, who was then president of the Winnipeg Grain Exchange. History The settlement of Bawlf was a results of the Canadian Pacific Railway's route through the prairies, with the original survey for the community taking place in 1905 on land owned by Gilbert Hansen. The first train to arrive to the community would occur in 1906, and regular passenger and freight service between Edmonton and Winnipeg would begin by 1909. The Village of Bawlf would be incorporated by the Province of Alberta on October 12, 1906, however an overseer would administer the community until 1908 when the first village council was elected. Kelsey, Alberta
Kelsey is a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada within Camrose County. It is located off Highway 850, approximately southeast of Edmonton and southeast of Camrose, Kelsey's closest major trading centre. Kelsey is home to several local businesses, a community hall, and a post office. Both school and fire services are provided by the nearby villages of Rosalind and Bawlf. History In 1902, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Kelsey and their son Earl, arrived in the area from Milbank, South Dakota, and filed on the S.E. 4-45-18. The southeast corner of this quarter of land was later chosen as the site for the community. Milton Zimmerman settled in the area in the same year and suggested the community be named after Kelsey. In 1915, the Canadian National Railway began laying steel in a south-easterly direction from Camrose. It passed through what a few weeks later became the town of Kelsey.
