Rosalie Duthé
Catherine-Rosalie Gerard Duthé (1748–1830), alternately Duthe or Du The, was a celebrated French courtesan. Claude-Jean-Baptiste Hoin
Claude-Jean-Baptiste Hoin (5 June 1750 – 16 July 1817) was a French artist known primarily for his portraits and landscapes. He worked in pastels for his portrait miniatures, and in gouache and engraving for his landscapes. He studied with François Devosge and Jean-Baptiste Greuze. He was a member of the Academy of the Sciences and Literature of Dijon (1776) and an honorary associate of the Royal Academy of Painting of Toulouse. His works include a self-portrait in pastel (1787), and the portraits ''Mirabeau'' (1790), ''Guyard'' (1786), ''Madame Dugazon'' (ca. 1878), and a presumed portrait of ''Rosalie Duthé''. He is also noted for a pair of pastel portraits of the maternal grandmother and aunt of Octave de Rochebrune, which he signed as ''peintre de Monsieur, frère du roi'' ("painter of Monsieur, brother of the king"). Antoine Vestier (1740 – 24 December 1824) was a French miniaturist and painter of portraits, born at Avallon in Burgundy, who trained in the atelier of Jean-Baptiste Pierre. He showed his work at the Salon de la Correspondance, Paris, before being admitted (''agréé'') to the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture in 1785, when a portrait of the painter Gabriel François Doyen, was his ''morceau de réception''. The Château de Bagatelle is a small Neoclassical style château with several small formal French gardens, a rose garden, and an ''orangerie''. It is set on 59 acres of gardens in French landscape style in the Bois de Boulogne, which is located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. There is also a located near Abbeville in northern France. Origins The château is a glorified playground, actually a ''maison de plaisance'' intended for brief stays while hunting in the Bois de Boulogne in a party atmosphere. Charles X (born Charles Philippe, Count of Artois; 9 October 1757 – 6 November 1836) was King of France from 16 September 1824 until 2 August 1830. Miniaturist
A portrait miniature is a miniature portrait painting, usually executed in gouache, watercolor, or enamel. Portrait miniatures developed out of the techniques of the miniatures in illuminated manuscripts, and were popular among 16th-century elites, mainly in England and France, and spread across the rest of Europe from the middle of the 18th century, remaining highly popular until the development of daguerreotypes and photography in the mid-19th century. They were usually intimate gifts given within the family, or by hopeful males in courtship, but some rulers, such as James I of England, gave large numbers as diplomatic or political gifts. They were especially likely to be painted when a family member was going to be absent for significant periods, whether a husband or son going to war or emigrating, or a daughter getting married. Lié Louis Périn-Salbreux (12 October 1753, Reims – 20 December 1817, Reims) was a French portrait painter, pastelist and Portrait miniature, miniaturist. Biography He came from a family of textile manufacturers. As he had four older brothers who had already entered the textile business, his father wanted him to become a priest. He was interested in art, however, and went against his wishes by taking drawing classes under the direction of Jean-François Clermont, a local designer and watercolorist.
