Rorvic Productions was a movie production company formed in 1956 by Rory Calhoun and Victor Orsatti. The name derives from the combination of the founders names, Rory and Victor. Rorvic Productions produced the television series ''The Texan'', three feature films, and two television films, all starring Calhoun. ''The Hired Gun'', released in 1957, was the first film produced by Rorvic Productions. Rorvic also produced ''Domino Kid'' (1957) and ''Apache Territory ''Apache Territory'' is a 1958 American Western film directed by Ray Nazarro and produced by and starring Rory Calhoun. Rory Calhoun
Rory Calhoun (born Francis Timothy McCown, August 8, 1922April 28, 1999) was an American film and television actor. He starred in numerous Westerns in the 1950s and 1960s, and appeared in supporting roles in films such as ''How to Marry a Millionaire'' (1953). Life and career 1922–1943: Troubled early life Francis Timothy McCown was born in Los Angeles, California, the son of Elizabeth Cuthbert and Floyd Conley McCown, a professional gambler. He spent his early years in Santa Cruz, California. He was of Irish ancestry. At age 13, he stole a revolver, for which he was sent to the California Youth Authority's Preston School of Industry reformatory at Ione, California. He escaped while in the adjustment center (jail within the jail). He left home at 17 to escape beatings from his stepfather and began hot-wiring cars. Victor Orsatti
Victor Manuel Orsatti (November 25, 1905 – June 9, 1984) was an American talent agent and film producer. As an agent, he represented some of the biggest stars of the 1930s and 1940s, including Judy Garland, Betty Grable, and Edward G. Robinson, as well as directors Frank Capra and George Stevens. He was credited with persuading figure skating champion Sonja Henie to move to Hollywood and become an actress after the 1936 Winter Olympics. He later became a motion picture and television producer, whose works include ''Flight to Hong Kong'' and the television series '' The Texan''. He was also married to actress June Lang, singer/actress Marie "The Body" McDonald, and model/actress Dolores Donlon. The Hired Gun (1957 Film)
''The Hired Gun'' is a 1957 American CinemaScope Western film directed by Ray Nazarro and starring Rory Calhoun and Anne Francis. Plot Ellen Beldon is about to be hanged in Texas for the cold-blooded murder of her husband. Her uncle’s ranch foreman, Judd Farrow, masquerading as a priest busts her out of jail and escorts Ellen to a safe hideout at her uncle’s ranch in New Mexico. her uncle has enough influence to block extradition of Ellen back to Texas. Her father-in-law, Mace Beldon, determined to avenge the killing of his son, hires gunman Gil McCord for $5,000 to track down Ellen and bring her back to Texas. Gil hires on as a cowhand and then kidnaps Ellen and they head back to Texas. On the way Ellen explains to Gil what really happened, that her husband was murdered by his step-brother, Kel Beldon, who wants to be sole heir to their father's money and land. The film stars Rory Calhoun, Kristine Miller, Andrew Duggan, Yvette Dugay, Peter Whitney and Eugene Iglesias. The film was released in October 1957, by Columbia Pictures. Plot Domino (Rory Calhoun) returns from the Civil War to find his ranch in ruins and his father murdered. Five men were responsible and four were identified.
